I personally think it will hamper the team to do all of the traveling the same day as the game.
This will be to our advantage. How much, however, remains to be seen.
I really don't think Croom understands what he's getting into with this game.
Please understand that the flight from Starkville to Monroe is probably about 45 minutes. They get to sleep in their own bunks on Friday night--same routine as a home game right up until flight time. I think this is a postitive move for them as some of our trips on away games from the hotel to the stadium take 45 minutes.
As previously mentioned, WEATHER could be the only problem on a schedule like this.
That may be true Coach but gettting in and out of an airport twice is never a perfect thing and they will be doing it with a team and staff on the day of the game. Don't we stay at a hotel even when we are home? I assume that is for consistancy and so you can keep better tabs on players the night before a game. At best I think this is a toss up as to weather it's a good move or not.
Maybe we'll get lucky and Dixon will get air-sick!

I hope they get delayed due to some chicken fat on I-20

Man what a site.
If Fay parks over Mississippi next week, they may be busing to Ruston.
Anyone remember the infamous Rain Bowl vs. Southern Miss (with Favre at QB)? Don't say you were there, unless you were. There couldn't have been more than 5,000 at the most in the entire stadium and 4,000 of those stood huddled under the stands or on the ramps.
Rain like that can ruin a nice Saturday of watching football. If Fay parks over us, or close enough, next Saturday could be nasty. Ugh! Oh, and hope it ain't clear and 98F either! I'll take high 70s with a cool breeze. Can anyone arrange that?
I was there, great football weather. It required extra whiskey to endure. There couldn't have been more than 500 people there in the 4th quarter. Many had to make alternate arrangements to get home due to the fact that their cars were flooded in the parking lot at Joe Aillet.
Great football weather? Yeah, if you're a duck!
Remember the water cascading through the stands. At first, you could stay above it by stepping on the seats. Late in the game, even that no longer worked as the water was above the seat level. Got absolutely soaked. Rain gear made little difference.
Stayed to the end too. Our final drive snuffed out, not by the USM defense, but by their navy!
26-19 was the final score, for those that care.
Guys, I am almost certain that they won't have to worry about getting equipment on or off the plane. Most schools, including Tech, move their equipment by truck the day before the game if possible. I would imagine State will be able to walk into the locker room at Tech and will have everything ready for them to play.
As far as security, for charters, the bus usually goes on the tarmac and they get off the bus, get scanned by a hand held detector, and step onto the plane.
Not a bad idea by Croom in my opinion, except for the possibility of a delay. but that can happen riding in a bus as well.
