Baseball Cubs / Astros (MLB Blew it)

As a Cubs fan, I was happy to see the Cubs win and Zambrano's no hitter was awesome.

But, I think MLB really dropped the ball on this one for several reasons.

First, I think this game should have been played in Houston. I know that re-scheduling games is difficult, but having this game in Houston would have been good for the town and fans after Ike tore the place up.

Second, if it had to be moved, they should have moved it to a truly neutral site. Milwaukee is in the Cubs back yard and this was supposed to be a home game for the Astros. Should have moved it to Arizona or some other truly neutal site. Since Bud Selig used to own the Brewers, I can't help but think that he did a big favor to his team (his family still owns the Brewers) because of all the money that was spent on beer, hot dogs, etc.

Finally, a fellow Tech grad evacuated from Houston and went to the game. He said that they did not make any announcement wishing Houston fans well, or even acknowledging the troubles going on right now on the Texas coast.

Big fumble by MLB. I've never been a fan of Bud Selig, but even an idiot like him shouldn't mess this up after watching how well the NFL handled the aftermath of Katrina. He should have been prepared for something like this, but it seems like he was only concerned about padding the pockets of his home team. No excuse for his ineptitude.

Having said that, I'm very happy for Zambrano. It's good to see him get back on track and hopefully the Cubs can keep winning for another six weeks.

Bud Selig belongs on the top ten list of "Worst At Their Job." Could this decision have been a bigger show of favoritism? 100% of the profits from the game should have to go to the Houston organization.

As a fellow Cubs fan I agree that was much more a home game for the Cubs than Astros. Dont know if they could play in Houston but an hour from Chicago? BUT as a Saints fan its hard for me to feel sorry for them when we had to play an entire season on the road, and that includes a "home" game in New York.

Not to mention that it's in the best interest of the Brewers that Houston LOSE, something they haven't done a whole lot of lately.

I hated to see this series relocated because the Astros had overcome a ridiculous margin of games to actually become a legitimate player for the wild card. They deserved better.

Bud Selig is a bastard. He is still so partial to the Brewers that I am surprised that he has not figured out some way to help them stay as the Wild Card...oh, wait, he did by having the Astros play a "home" game in the Cubs' back yard in the stadium he got built for his Brewers. If the Astros win this afternoon it will be a miracle. If the Astros miss the post-season by one game, the no-hitter will be what is pointed to and hopefully the tale of the Hell the Astros and their family had to go through before getting the the stadium last night will be told...

As a Cubs fan I can say that I agree this was not the most fair way to go about this. Brewer's Field is known as Wrigley North because we typically draw more fans than the Brewers do there. Sorry Astros fans, but hey we are The Cubs we need all the help we can get.

I agree. Selig watched that happen and should have known the uproar that would come from it. He also saw the joy that Saints fans experienced when the Saints finally came home and how good it was for the city and fans to have something to rally around. In the middle of the wild card race it would have been great for Astros fans to have a game at home. It's just hard to believe that Selig blew it so badly....even that idiot. Surely he understands that having the game in Milwaukee will at least give the apperance of bias. Bud Selig is a complete moron.

He screwed up here. I think that the clear solution is to dock the cubs 12 games in the standings, the brewers 5, and the astros 3. It seems harsh, but it is the only fair way to resolve the situation. Why can't Selig see that it would be in the best interest of baseball to do this?

The most logical move would be to postpone the games and then see if they were necessary at the end of the season...

Then if necessary, you play a DH on Monday and a single on Tuesday and move the NLDS start to a Weds -

If screws the Astros that way also (rotation wise), cause the Brewers played themselves out of the race and gave the title to the Cubs this weekend anyway and there is no way you see the Z, Lily, Hardin or Dempster in that season ending series...

The Astros were screwed one way or another - but the games should not have been played in Milwaukee -

Move it to Hoover ALA - there are still 9,000 Cub fans vs 3 Astro fans....
    ''Don't be a bad dagh..."

I say they should have rescheduled the game during the same time and same channel of the next televised Tech game. They should have shown some stupid Astros talk show in Spanish followed by a meaningless, boring ass baseball game played by a bunch of overpaid roid heads. That would have been awesome.
