If I'm not mistaken, didn't Stowe's close a year or so ago? I know it's not a recent closing. Also, does anyone know where the Scott's Catfish place will be? The Leader said they'd bought land on Farmerville Hwy. 33. And what is going on on the NW corner of Arizona and S. Trenton, across from McDonald's?

Stowe's has been closed for over a year. I heard that the owner was going to have to do extensive upgrades to the electrical aspects of the building and some other safety improvements and that it was not cost effective for him to do so and try to remain in business.

Yes, Scott's Catfish bought property on Highway 33 North just past Soil Stabilizers and just before Ruston Air Conditioning and Depot 33. There is an empty lot on the right that he purchased.

The church I attend, First Baptist Ruston, just recently bought the property on the corner of Arizona and South Trenton that had the 2 old rent houses on it. We also own Rick Gallot's office location (bought it last year). We are only cleaning up the property by getting rid of all the overgrown vegetation and getting rid of the houses - they were both in really bad shape. That is it. Trying to acquire the block for our future growth.

I wonder who I would have to talk to about buying that old disco floor.

Dean Norton is the man who owns the building as far as I know. He is a local Ruston guy and owns the Norton Building behind Roger's Furniture.

This is the one thing I remember from the one night I went to Stowe's. Such an awesome thing to see! So sad to hear it closed...

If you're lucky, you might see the ghost of dirtydawg dancing on that disco floor.

Well you're not a big goer outter, though.

That place was the epitome of "hole in the wall' and it RULED. Those were my people in there.

4.5 years actually, and at that time it wasn't the bar the football guys went to. It was the Que on Friday nights and Rabb's on Wednesday and Saturday Nights.

I thought is looked like Stowe's was gone when I was in Ruston for the Nevada game.

What is Fargo's now? Shortly after I graduated it was converted to a church! If memory serves, that meant it went full circle - from church to bar to church.

At least, I think the bar on Hwy 80 across from the old chinese restaurnant and diagonal to the Burger King was named Fargos.

Fargos, Zacks, Mothers......went through a lot of names, but the rancid beer smell remained constant.

Ah Stowes... I was there one night when the Saints were in Ruston for training camp, had a full pitcher of beer, place was packed, someone bumped into me from behind, dumped a large portion of pitcher down Earl Campbell's back. I immediately apologized and poured him a beer. He was very nice about what could have been an ugly situation.
