I can't divulge TOO much information about the happenings internally at LSU, as I am an employee, even though I'm just a computer programmer rather than a fundraiser, but I've been in on some meetings, and YES we do have some Tech grads seeded around this campus that know each other, so I'm not alone. I've heard some laughs and some frustrations about some of the north-central and northwestern Louisiana rich folks being Tech supporters. It will always be a battle and they will always care, because obviously their job and goal is to get as much money as possible, which should be any school or fundraising organization's goal. The donors we DO have for Tech up there are pretty solid though, just to let you know. I haven't heard them mention competing with any other state schools though, so that makes me feel good.

James Davison, he is a TECH grad who owns Davison Trucking here in town. Also owns several other companies. Davison Hall is named after him. Steve, his son is often on the field doing commentary during football games.

I am surprised at you T-MO for the deterioration of your memory. Little Zippy DaviDson was a walk-on RB from Saline, Louisiana, back in the late 60's, early 70's. Little Zippy was not very fast nor was he very big but he was really, really strong. He always credited his days spent in the watermelon patches down in Saline for the development of his superhuman strength & you could always count on a Saline yellow-meat watermelon from Little Zippy about the first day of July every year, just in time for the celebration of the 4th. Little Zippy graduated Tech & went on to be a sniper in the Special Forces serving 3 tours of duty in Viet Nam. Little Zippy always told us that yellow-meat watermelon was the source of his deadly eye for shooting. His big claim to fame happened in 1984 when he won the watermelon-seed spitting contest in Farmerville at the Melon Festival. To this day, he can be found on his front porch out from Spearsville in Union Parish fondly carressing the trophy he won in Farmerville while singing the Tech alma mater.

Mick- Thanks for the update. Ol' Zippy must have gone undercover with the Seals before my first day at Hutcheson Dorm in 1973.
But, a lot of people on BB&B must know Ol' Zippy because they confuse him all the time with that trucker guy's son who used to work alongside you at Mitcham's Peach Orchard on these warm summer days of June and July.
One thing has not deteriorated from my memory, Mick. About this week every June you and I were paddling for those perch at Coach Huey's camp pond during an afternoon respite from our routines at Scotty's basketball camp. Gosh, those were the days.
