Dear Friends - Please know that Lauren, Brenda and I are so appreciative of the prayers, contacts, acts of kindness and generosity that have been offered to us by you. Please understand that the lack of a personal "thank-you" to each of you does not in any way indicate our lack of appreciation - it only indicates that we have been, and continue to be, overwhelmed by your thoughtfulness and caring. As Brenda often says, we can "feel the prayers." We humbly request that you continue them in support of Lauren and the other victims of the FBC S'port bus crash. No doubt the wonderful progress all of those recovering from their injuries suffered in the accident is due to God's glory, honored by your prayers. As Paul said in 1st Philippians, we give thanks every time we think of each one of you!
All of the recent news about Lauren continues to be good news. As most of you know three weeks ago Lauren graduated to crutches and has moved to out-patient physical therapy. She continues to participate at school full time and week-end before last participated in the Homecoming activities and prom at Byrd High School. This past weekend Lauren and a group of her friends went to LA TECH for the football game against Nicholls State University
Lauren had an eye check-up with Dr. Vekovious on September 14th, who advises that the double-vision experienced in the up-ward gaze continues to improve as the swelling in the muscle below her left eye continues to subside. We are so thankful for the excellent care and attention offered by Dr. V. and his staff.
Yesterday, September 21st, Lauren visited Dr. Springmeyer who on review of current x-rays and consultation with our Physical Therapist and good friend, Marshall Cowley, advised that Lauren's PT should continue, with increased load on her left leg as she continues to progress. We hope to see Lauren on only 1 crutch within the next 30 days. We are thankful for all of the Doctors, O.T.s and P.T.s who have been involved with Lauren in recovering from her fractures - who are actually too numerous to mention.
Please continue to check my "Facebook" page for more regular up-dates.
Finally - as you know, the tragedies of the July 12th bus accident include the loss of the life of our dear young friend, Maggie Lee Henson. Friends and supporters of the Henson family have determined to honor Maggie on her 13th birthday, October 29, 2009, by committing to do a good deed on that day. For more information on your opportunity to particpate in this effort, please visit the web site "Maggie Lee for Good" at http://www.maggieleeforgood.org/ .
Thanks again!
