    Malcolm -

One of the real blessings of BB&B is its ability to communicate information that the whole Tech family can share. Your recents event was one those times. As fellow student with you in the early 70's, the news hit my family hard. You should know that there were hundreds of folks saying prayers for you and your family because of the reach of BB&B.

It is comforting to see your family on to recovery and celebrating the progression of life.

Re: Tech Supporter's Daughter Injured in Bus Accident

Friends - a quick up-date: On Monday Lauren went for a check-up with Dr. Craig Springmeyer, her Orthopedic Dr. After reviewing x-rays taken that afternoon of Lauren's triple fractured left clavicle and the left femur with two fractures and a rod, Dr. Craig pronounced that things look good with the new bone growth in both the clavicle and femur and sent Lauren on to out-patient PT with instructions for her to begin using crutches. Lauren was so excited that we scheduled her first out-patient appointment for 7:30 AM Tuesday. She got her crutches Tuesday morning, and went to school sans wheel chair. Tuesday night her arms were sore and we used ice packs and Advil. She is moving well - it is a wonderful thing to see her moving around on her own! Attached is a picture of her on he way to school Wednesday morning.

In the small world category, Lauren's home PT is Clair Joiner, daughter of Curt Joiner. Clair did a wonderful job with Lauren. Her out-patient PT is Marshall Cowley, who also went to Tech. It's been a Tech Medical team the whole way in Shreveport!

    Thanks for all the prayers!

That's great news Malcolm. Glad to hear that things are looking positive.

... and you didn't even mention that Dr. Springmeyer was a TECH grad!!!!

Craig Springmeyer is a former DL from those great teams from the early 70's and Marshall Cowley is a former LB from the late 70's early 80's.

Re: Tech Supporter's Daughter Injured in Bus Accident

Dear Friends - Please know that Lauren, Brenda and I are so appreciative of the prayers, contacts, acts of kindness and generosity that have been offered to us by you. Please understand that the lack of a personal "thank-you" to each of you does not in any way indicate our lack of appreciation - it only indicates that we have been, and continue to be, overwhelmed by your thoughtfulness and caring. As Brenda often says, we can "feel the prayers." We humbly request that you continue them in support of Lauren and the other victims of the FBC S'port bus crash. No doubt the wonderful progress all of those recovering from their injuries suffered in the accident is due to God's glory, honored by your prayers. As Paul said in 1st Philippians, we give thanks every time we think of each one of you!

All of the recent news about Lauren continues to be good news. As most of you know three weeks ago Lauren graduated to crutches and has moved to out-patient physical therapy. She continues to participate at school full time and week-end before last participated in the Homecoming activities and prom at Byrd High School. This past weekend Lauren and a group of her friends went to LA TECH for the football game against Nicholls State University

Lauren had an eye check-up with Dr. Vekovious on September 14th, who advises that the double-vision experienced in the up-ward gaze continues to improve as the swelling in the muscle below her left eye continues to subside. We are so thankful for the excellent care and attention offered by Dr. V. and his staff.

Yesterday, September 21st, Lauren visited Dr. Springmeyer who on review of current x-rays and consultation with our Physical Therapist and good friend, Marshall Cowley, advised that Lauren's PT should continue, with increased load on her left leg as she continues to progress. We hope to see Lauren on only 1 crutch within the next 30 days. We are thankful for all of the Doctors, O.T.s and P.T.s who have been involved with Lauren in recovering from her fractures - who are actually too numerous to mention.

Please continue to check my "Facebook" page for more regular up-dates.

Finally - as you know, the tragedies of the July 12th bus accident include the loss of the life of our dear young friend, Maggie Lee Henson. Friends and supporters of the Henson family have determined to honor Maggie on her 13th birthday, October 29, 2009, by committing to do a good deed on that day. For more information on your opportunity to particpate in this effort, please visit the web site "Maggie Lee for Good" at http://www.maggieleeforgood.org/ .

    Thanks again!

Great news Malcolm! Tell Dr. Vekovious (who was my honorary big brother in SAE during my TECH days) that ROss says hello next time you visit with him. It really sounds like you're surrounded by kind, caring TECH folks and know that our prayers are still with you. Ross

I hope those Guardsmen got the awards they deserve from this, even if it were civilian awards. There aren't many who would or could do what they did.

Great story. Does anyone else find it amazing how many idiots/losers we have in our society? Anytime an article is written and God is mentioned, these people come out of their holes and start writing comments.

Build anything close to DNA in a test tube in a lab with the world's best scientists starting from raw elements and that would be amazing (and at this time quite impossible). Have it reproduce itself and that would really WOW some people. Have that happen by total chance in the world as it was billions of years ago is beyond comprehension.
