Ruston Eating Places

I passed though Ruston yesterday evening and stopped at the Dawg House for my first time, that was the absolute BEST hamburger I have ever eaten. I will make eating there a priority when comming up to football games this fall.

Dawg House burgers rock! We tried to go a few times and couldn't even get a parking space (football game crowd). Finally was able to go while there for a concert and YUM! It was worth the wait.

I drive by the Fort Worth Griff's every day, but I've never stopped by to compare it to the Ruston one. Might try that next week.

It's been a little while but the Shreveport Griffs was awesome last time I ate there.

Man, I loved Trenton Street Cafe. What happened to the business? Why did they close the doors? It was clean, good food (from what I experienced), and was busy during lunch.

Yep, Blue Light's still open and still good. Bee's is now called Russell B's, I think.

Has anyone ever been to the previous DOWNTOWN DELIGHTS? It is being held at the Civic Center tonight. What can you tell me about it?

Were you bored? I hear some of the restaurants ran out of food early.

Griff's Burger Bar was a regional fast food chain found in the early 1960s by Griff's of America, Inc. of Kansas City, Missouri, United States. They had locations nationwide with the majority in the South near highway exits

Griff's was named for the founding Griffith family, rather than having any connection with the pejorative racial slang.

The restaurant buildings were of a patented A-frame design, produced by Valentine Diners of Wichita, Kansas. Later restaurants sported more conventional architecture. A bright yellow sign read HAMBURGERS in big block capitals. The restaurants offered both drive-thrus and patio dining.

Most of the stores were located in high traffic locations, such as near a highway off-ramp, or along Route 66.

The chain no longer exists, but individual stores remain open in Arvada, Colorado, Denver, Colorado; Bossier City, Louisiana; Shreveport, Louisiana; Sedalia, Missouri; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Dallas, Texas; Fort Worth, Texas; Haltom City, Texas; Garland, Texas; Irving, Texas; Mesquite, Texas; and San Antonio, Texas.There is also one in Ruston, Louisiana

I haven't run into the one in San Antonio. May have to give it a shot, just for nostalia's sake.

Well the Norton's owned it then sold it to Debra Stall, who shortly after renamed it to Trenton Street Bistro..kept most of the staff and menu. A year or 2 later, Debra moved away from Ruston and not sure what became of it after.. sold I presume

The sushi place downtown is called RAW, but I haven't gone yet. The place on campus is Tsunami, and it's actually decent (especially considering it's campus dining)
