Baylor is 300 miles away. We will drive over two times receiving $500K for one of two games.
NCSt will require flying. We will jet over two times receiving $1.1 for one of two games.
The difference in money received ($600K to make it easy for you) will be eaten up by the cost of flying vs. driving.
Hopefully our AD will get a new job while he is doing all the double dealing.
Looking at 2018 schedule, and based on what I know now (i.e. before I see our newbies: freshmen, JCers, and those losing the red shirt), I'd say it's very likely we could go 5-0 at home, and 0-7 on the road. Now, that's on paper. Games are not played on paper, so it's more likely we'll go 4-1 at home (just because, have to have a WTF game at home), and 2-5 on the road, to finish 6-6 again.
Now, after I see what we actually have in the tank, I'll revise my outlook.
Let's start at QB....please.

Weird. We go from playing WKU very early in the season --our first conference game in fact, the last couple of years-- to playing 'em in our last game of the season.

Sept. 29 at North Texas - Loss
Oct. 6 UAB - One of the greatest wins ever
Oct. 13 at UTSA - Loss
Oct. 20 UTEP -Win
Oct. 27 at Florida Atlantic -Loss

It is a rebuilding year with a 6th year HC and a young rock star QB.
Did we have a bunch of unreported football departures for that 4-8 season prediction?
We have 5 senior OL returning; we haven't had that many since 2012 when we came close to the Orange Bowl bid in Dykes' final season.
We have 5 senior DL returning. One of which may be the best DE in the country; Ferguson's career stats will be better than 1st round pick Davenport and he is about the same size.
J'Mar Smith is a JR-RS QB. He is not a young, inexperienced QB anymore and he finally had a complete spring without the baseball time commitment distraction.
We picked up 3 'thumper' JuCo LBs this offseason (one of which was the JuCo National Defensive POY). LB is now a team strength, not a weakness.
We picked up a 5-10 220 JuCo RB All-American honorable mention in Justin Henderson this offseason from Coffeyville. Henderson is moving to Ruston this weekend if not already there.
These last two recruiting classes have been our best since Holtz came to Tech.
Our senior kicker graduated, so there is no need to make the most FG attempts in FBS football. Holtz can actually feel good about "going for it" on 4th downs.
Looks like an 8-4 regular season and another bowl game to me.
PD is a pessimist so he will never be disappointed, and if he is right he will always get to say "I told you so."
I don't make predictions or have any expectations. I will just enjoy the season. After all, it's only a game and my livelihood and state of happiness doesn't depend on whether we win or lose.
