I don't get it, how do we know for sure if we're selected that we will play in Bossier City? If we're something like a 7th-10th seed wouldn't there be a chance the regions don't work out and we just get tossed into whatever region needs filling up?

Unlike the men's tournament, women's teams that host the first and second round not only can play at their host site, they are required to play there regardless of their seed.

Both Charlie Creme and Jerry Palm rank us as an 11 seed this week.

Assuming that the 4 #1 seeds come from this group (Baylor, UConn, Tennessee, Stanford, Duke), it would be impossible for us to be an 8 or 9 seed because they are all first/second round hosts.

I think we'll end up as a 10 seed with Texas A&M coming to Bossier as a 2 seed and McNeese or Oral Roberts as the 15 seed.

That's just crazy. We are sitting around #30 nationally & we would be that low as far as seeding? Judging by RPI & wins & losses we should be a 7th or 8th seed. Of course, we still have work to do.

We are 1-5 against tournament quality teams. For that reason and because no 8/9 seed will host, a 10 seed is probably as high as we can get.

More likely scenario is for Tech to be a #10 seed playing a #7. Texas A&M would likely be a #2 seed playing a #15 in the other game first round game in Bossier City.

    Yep.

Also, if Texas A&M comes to Bossier, we will NOT be in the Dallas regional. Baylor is now a lock for the Dallas regional, and therefore, no other Big 12 team can be seeded 2-4 in that region. So if we somehow make the Sweet 16, we won't get an easy trip to Dallas.

But then I read this by Charlie Creme:
"Texas A&M was forced to travel to where another team hosted (Gonzaga in Seattle) for a second-round game just last year. The committee tries extremely hard to avoid doing that to a team in consecutive seasons."

That would make it seem likely that Texas A&M will be sent to The Pit in New Mexico.

But other projected #2 seeds Duke and Xavier are also 1st round hosts leaving UCLA as the odd #2 seed to get sent to the CenturyTel Center.

Ohio State will cause the same problem because they are currently projected as an 8 or 9 seed, and 8/9 cannot host, and 2 #2 seeds will likely host.

I would not be surprised if the selection committee bumps Tech down to a #11 seed to make placement easier for them.

Fresno's sweeping the WAC only got them a 13th seed last year. But I guess losing the tournament didn't help their cause. What was their OOC schedule like?

They had a high rpi, which matters more than anything. We have a low rpi. It will make a difference. BUT, if we lose in the tournament final, we will get a lower seed. I think we will still make it in, but we need to win out - including the tournament.

We do need to win the WAC tournament, but we should still get in if we sweep the WAC regular season. If our only loss is in the WAC Tournament, we should still have a top 40 RPI. No way they leave a top 40 RPI team sitting at home while they host a subregional.

I think the only thing standing in our way right now is the Nevada/Utah State road trip. Our next 3 home games are against the bottom 3 teams in the WAC, and we won't lose on senior day going for win #1000.

Fresno State went into Selection Monday with a 34 RPI and 97 SOS. 8-10 RPI positions higher and 20-30 SOS spots better should be worth at least 2-4 seed lines.

11 seed would not bother me since it is the most favorable low seed in the normal at-large range for avoiding the 2s and 1s the longest.

Wasn't there a year where we were ranked in the top 25 and got a 12 seed? I'm not making that up in my sick fever-induced state am I?
