Since we're name dropping , I played pool with Eddie Van Halen at Cowboys in Bossier City, in 1981 or '82. He had just married actress Valerie Bertinelli, who's mother lived in Shreveport at the time and worked in a travel agency.

OK, you got me beat. I went into a bar in Baton Rouge in 1971 or 1972 and Stephen Stills was shooting pool. I ogled him shooting pool (does that count?). Funny thing, it was a small bar with a small dance floor. Steven Stills sat in as the drummer (yep, no guitar) the whole night. He never sang a song, either.

By the way, why was he in a bar with Valerie Bertinelli at home?

Oh, she was there too. But I didn't care about THAT. LOL! I was playing pool with greatness, and I knew it.

I've actually got several stories where I had a brush with greatness.....but I'll save those stories for tailgating.

I sat next to Glenn Frey at a Lakers game in LA in 1984. Showtime at the Forum was awesome, especially with courtside seats and sitting next to Frey. I asked him if he remembered playing at Tech in 1974, he said there were a few years in the 70’s where things were kind of fuzzy. Seemed like a decent guy.

    That's greatness, indeed.

The original Chuck was tougher than Chuck Norris. That's saying something.

About 5-6 years ago Mark Wahlburg got on my elevator at a downtown New Orleans hotel. He was there filming a movie, I think he was a boxer.

Back in the 80’s a group of us were waiting for an elevator at a New Orleans hotel. When the door opened Robert Conrad, the star of the tv show The Wild Wild West got off. When someone in our group called him by name he took off running.

You seem to hang out around hotel elevators a lot. Some kind of hobby?

    LOL. Twice in 30 years?

I do travel a good bit. I’d rather not walk up or down 10 flights of stairs so yea I’m going to be hunting an elevator.
