Bracey getting hurt was the best thing to happen to the team since Jan. He had become very ball dominant and trigger happy. Archibald had the freedom and opportunity to reintroduce the pass first PG to the team and did so with enthusiasm. I personally think that helped the energy as much as anything. Regarding Pemberton, its easy to say "be patient"...but for a kid who was a 2 time state champion and Texas player of the year as a senior...who has not played meaningful ball in 2 years...thats not as easy to do. Cant blame him for wanting to play. He should be playing more now.
Whose minutes do you suggest Pemberton take? Boykins, Duruji, Washington? He is not better than any of those guys at the moment and he is not a post player. If he stays his minutes will go up next year no doubt. The staff was really high on him in the preseason but not many FR break into the rotation.
This season and team has been an outlier. This season has been very similar to Mike White's first year, you can see the talent and improve throughout the season despite all of the challenges.
He's one of those guys that does everything to win games and most doesnt show up in the box score. Despite his situation...he's still the best bench guy. I couldnt do it.Duruji is better now because he had opportunities to improve. at Archibalds production in limited minutes early in season...versus his production in big minutes later. Same with Duruji. Same with Powell. Pemberton never got that opportunity. And he was the most productive freshman in the preseason/exhibitions. You can hope that he stays, but surely can see why he would not want to.Hes the best defender on the team...and in a league where Tech has been hit up multiple times by big scorers...there have been plenty of missed opportunities to help him thrive.
Can’t see how you could say he’s better on defense than Boykins who already has one All CUSA defensive team finisher, and generally is asked to defend their best mid and also score 15 a game. I haven’t seen enough of Pemberton to make that call, but this post feels personal.
Also FWIW it seems from social media and general inference Pemberton sealed his fate with the team and in the rotation by aiding with Harris in whatever chemistry issues resulted in the transfer.
I have high hopes for Pemberton too and hope he decides to give it another go unlike his selfish friend.
Not personal. My initial post was to point out reasons why I would expect Pemberton to leave. I think Boykins was deserving of all-defensive team last year. Not this year. Every advanced analytic has Boykins a below average defender...especially now that he's not getting 2+ steals per game. And while he does get the other teams best player often, that player often has great offensive games. Those are facts...not feelings.
Your posts about Harris seem very personal though.
Between Bracey, Jean, Christon, and Washington, there are a lot of minutes for Pemberton to take. Even when Boykins goes out (like next season's roster), Pemberton does not come in the game.
And there's no way he stays IMO. It's obvious Pemberton has been in Konkol's doghouse all season for whatever reason, even when we were down to a 7-man rotation at times desperately needing bodies. He played a perfect game a few weeks ago, 4-4 with several boards and hustle plays, but hasn't seen the floor since.

If this is true (and I tend to believe what you say), why is Pemberton in Konkol's doghouse? Surely our vaunted local media has quizzed him about this.
I say this because, any team down to a 7-man rotation in desperate need of bodies doesn't need a coach acting like a horses ass just so he can try to win a personal argument with a player. Unless of course, the player has done something to justify such an absurd reaction.
Well said Dawg06. And "why?" is the thousand dollar question. He's obviously a talented winner, hustle guy, hard worker, and positive energy kid (best cheerleader on the bench with the least reason to be), shooting 60%....what possibly could someone like that have done to not be able to crack a 7 man rotation that features 3 true freshman? And going back to the original point...it would come as zero shock if he left after the season. Unfortunately for him, he's already used his redshirt year so he would likely have to go juco for a year. That alone might keep him in Ruston.
Pemberton hasn’t done anything to earn more playing time. All this Konkol hating is getting old. Who cares what he did in high school. This isn’t high school. If he sticks around then I’m sure his minutes will increase if he’s doing the things he supposed to do to earn playing time.
