I was talking with one of our local sports media celebrities yesterday and this subject came up - the first team that came to my mind was 1990 Ruston.
WM has a great tradition since the early 90s but none of their teams are better than:
Ruston 90
Bastrop 07
ECA - multiple
JC - multiple
Again, WM has a great system in place but the 90 Ruston team would dominate any WM team of the past 20 years - easily.
I was only 8 years old during that season and I can still see replays in my head. That 14-0 season was unreal. The 2000 Rebel team was pretty salty. I still have to give it to the Cats though.
Also, over time, the 8 State Championships that Ruston has is pretty impressive.

For the most part.
The 90 Ruston team had 7 1st team all state players. I believe this record still stands. They defeated Catholic 52-10 in the championship.
Man he was rock solid, im really enjoying watching this. BTW for those who missed our show yesterday the phones were ringing off the hook for best teams over the last 30 years. We are going to take more votes today, then based off votes we will do seeding and have a bracket style playoff with a small school and large school bracket. We will also talk to former coaches and players to help"SELL" their team. Lot of fun.

Roymon Malcolm headed to Auburn then transferred to Northwestern State. He should have suited up across the street from the get go.
I am sure that the Ruston '90 team didn't get as much love on the show because it was almost 20 years ago. The most recent always get more play.
As far as small schools go, the '88 and'89 teams at Jonesboro-Hodge were pretty stout.
