Did Georgia have a surprise graduation and transfer bug this last week?
Bill Clark may not be at UAB any more, but the classlessness still is.
UAB running back heading to the goal line gets pushed out just short. Problem was that he taunted the Rice defender at the 5 for unsportsmanlike conduct before he was pushed out.
Rice 28 UAB 24 9:02 4th
FIU 21 New Mexico State 7 12:13 4th
Troy 34 WKU 27 final
UAB fails on a 4 and 14 at the Rice 15 with 3:26 left.
UAB has no timeouts left.
Rice 28 UAB 24 1:07 left
UAB ball at its own 39
FIU 21 New Mexico State 7 final
Rice 28 UAB 24 final
UTEP had 252 yards rushing but no TDs on the ground and 4 fumbles, just one lost. Their OL had its way with Charlotte. I was impressed with UTEP's big strike passing attack. That opens up when you can run the ball and suck those safeties into the box.
3-9 is our ceiling and 1-10 is possible, not probable, but possible. Fortunately for us CUSA sucks. It is by far the worst FBS conference, with mediocre UNT now sitting at the top with a whopping 3-3 record, thanks to 2-0 vs. fellow crappy CUSA teams.
Going back to that ass-whupping in the NO Bowl, 3-9 last year, and perhaps even worse this year, this is one of the deepest crap holes Tech football has been mired in. I don't think Coach Crumble, combined with our empty suit AD, and clueless Prez Guice, can dig us out of this mess. We're going to suffer several more years of yuck, where even sniffing 6-6 will be a pipe dream.
Anyway...
CUSA 4.0 results
UTEP and FIU won, MTSU and WKU lost
Sam Houston State 17 SFA 16
Liberty 38 ODU 24
J'ville State 35 Kennesaw State 28
NM State 7 FIU 21
Liberty will be the class of the league.
After posting that and thinking further about who will be in CUSA 4.0... the key to having a winning record will lay in the OOC. We need to schedule at least two winnable games, outside of a SWACer, I'm not sure who that might be. Going 4-4 or even 5-3 in the new, crappier CUSA should be doable, so 2-2 in the OOC, not 0-4, will make the difference in bowl eligibility.
