Holtz will keep J’Mar as the starter. He feels like we can go 6-6 or 7-5 and have a chance to win another bowl. He knows the admin at Tech is good with mediocrity and he knows 7 wins will keep him here no matter what. If he wins 10 games, people will set that as the expectation or he will be hired by a bigger school that always expects that(or wants to expect that). He wants to retire in Ruston.
There's just one problem with your theory: If Holtz doesn't do something fast to juice the Tech offense, our JAS football attendance is going to fall to dangerously low levels after the Southern game. Fans got bored last season and started not showing up in about game 3. It's going to be worse this year if Holtz doesn't turn things around quickly. This could be a serious threat to his "retirement".

Your right and he's not changing . Get ready for pitiful attendance, only matched by by what will be seen in the TAC.

When you start having attendance drops of several thousand, Ruston Merchants begin to notice, these merchants know what good is supposed to look like. Skip is going to pi$$ off enough of them sooner or later and they are going to send a lynch party out for him. Hurting our pride is one thing, but getting in financial supporters pockets is another, He screwed the pooch on this last year and ruined a potential gold mine of a year for these guys. Do you think they are going to continue to put up with this for long?

No. I’m saying it’s the first game and we’re not world beaters - but everybody knew that already.

The offense sucked so badly, that I’m not going to trash the defense for giving up 300 yards.

I think we have reached a point where Bob Mueller is the only man who can find out the dirt that J’Mar has on our entire athletic department.

Skip was just on Tim Fletcher's show. Fletch asked him about the passing game and Skip said that he got a little gun shy when the pass protection looked bad. Brought up that J'Mar threw 6 picks last year and threw 3 this game (one of which was tipped).

He did say that he's not married to J'Mar and that he'll play the player that gives us the best chance to win...while making it pretty clear that he thinks that person is J'Mar.

Unless he gets hurt or in trouble, Smith is the guy going forward. Holtz isn’t pulling anybody.

I came away wondering how many pass rushes we’ll see that are better than USA.

I thought OL was supposed to be a strength this year.

Different morning show but same question, Skip thought that only 1/3 ints were on JMar and that our O-line needed to play much better in pass protection. So it doesnt appear that Skip views the poor performance as an individual issue but all components of pass offensive, pitching, catching and blocking.

Surely Skip is wise enough to know it's not just the interceptions. J'Mar is an inaccurate passer. That's not gonna change and that's not gonna win many games.

Really??? you need to learn the game. we had 0ver 400 yards of offense and RBs averaged 9 plus yards -- J'mar threw 2 tds and ran for one. Things slowed down when Dancy hurt for third quarter ( ?? why use him on kickoff?) - people like you see "whole lot of bad"-- I saw some great football from a lot of players -- we are in the half of teams that won-not the half that lost -- sure you wish Kiffen was our coach .. not often a defense can make up for 6 turnovers -- Am I comfortable with where we are-NO but the Southern and LSU games probably won/t give us the answer. OL was fine... you should have read my thread about what to expect from the game-- "better respect USA" --hell , the line was 10 --you underestimated them-- not those of us who understand the basis of football
