Wow! Maybe there are ADs worse than ours.

This guy was a good coach and committed to Southern Miss. Good luck finding a replacement.

    Worse than ours? Yeah right!

We wouldn't fire Bicknell after he proved to be terrible. They fire theirs because he has shown he can win, but can't take it to the next level (being BCS buster).

That guy is light years ahead of Oakes. Even though he was the former NLU AD.

Some of the fans are turning on him. BUT, some say that he can't disobey the "ring of champions?"...USM's "Big 5" (though, I suspect they've got a few more than we do). They should offer Tyrone Nix and hope he comes (his other option will be to be the DC at LSU...just wait). If they don't make a GREAT hire, this will look incredibly stupid. They've already mishandled the info with the papers in the area reporting that Bower was fired while the coast papers say he resigned (meaning East Coast/West Coast...not Gulf Coast).

Some fans are getting incredibly honest about how USM acquired all those winning seasons.

" A member of the football staff confirmed the move this morning and said assistant coaches were being called back in from recruiting trips."

    Beautiful Words.

After 14 winning seasons, USM is going to hit the crapper with this move. I'd like to know what BCS conference that guy that posted the same post 3 times thinks USM is going to join. i hope we make good use of this in recruiting.

It's on eagletalk.net. Nothing dirty or against the rules, just that they've piled up wins against sorry CUSA teams.

On a side note, Joe Schad just reported that Houston Nutt is out at Arkansas.

According to Brando's theory that probably means that Muschamp is out.:icon_wink:

Timmy B made some interesting points today. Said that a school will usually at least act like they are interviewing the desired candidates of the boosters to appease them, but all the while they have another person in mind who they really want. He was interviewing Terry Bowden during this segment and Bowden agreed completely. BTW, Bowden should pop up in one of these openings.

Why was it that Bowden left Auburn? Was there some wrong doing there? I can't seem to remember, other than it seems like they had a good team while he was there.

That's one way to try and move up the ladder. On the other hand, he must not have done it right, or she wouldn't have told her dad how bad it was.

As I recall, Bowden was undefeated his first year or two, but didn't do well after that. He eventually was fired because everyone realized that his first two years he was winning with Pat Dye's recruits (all together now - Les Miles). I could be wrong about this, but I believe they were found guilty of recruiting violations and were punished for it with loss of scholarships and bowl games. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know why Southern Miss thinks they are about to jump into a BCS conference when they are firing a good coach and playing in a terribly weak football conference. If Muschamp ends up unemployed, then maybe he would be a good fit at USM. They better find someone pretty quick.

In the meantime, I hope that Dooley and the assistant coaches are zeroing in on recruits, especially those with good right arms and good decision-making ability.

Actually, when Bowden took over, they were already on probation for some violations. They were ineligible for post season play and any championships. That was what was so fascinating with them having gone undefeated his first year. They were basically playing to spoil others' chances since they didn't have any. Also, I think he slept with one of the big booster's daughter, not the president's. I don't remember why they ran him off except that he wasn't winning like he did the first couple of years and the daughter incident helped seal his fate.
