    Saints vs Niners

First, never thought after an 0-4 start, and considering who we lost to, that the Saints would be 5-5 and back in the playoff hunt, albeit a wild card slot. Especially having the worst defense in the NFL too.

Secondly, here we are again.....the dastardly Niners representing a roadblock. Back in '80s the Saints would often go 11-5 or 12-4 and be 0-2 vs. division rival San Fran. Relegating the Saints to a wildcard berth, at best. This Niner team is VERY good. The best in the NFC, I think.

And....looky here. Another old antagonist appears: Colon Kapumpernickle. The likely starter for injured Alex Smith.

What a football weekend this will be:

    1) Rummel in the quarterfinals (Dawg80 present to see it)
    2) the Dawgs in a HUGE game (we all know that one)
    3) the Saints battling to stay alive for the playoffs vs. an old nemesis.

    What a weekend!

Looking forward to the Saints game today. As a fan, need to get back in the saddle after that disappointment out in San Jose. Rooting for a team with lousy defense is very stressful for me. So, now I have the Saints to....

    Egad! I'm in deep trouble!!!!

Really! Thought I was done with Kapumpernickle.

The scuttlebutt is he will become the Niners' #1 QB. San Fran went after Peyton Manning pretty hard trying to sign him. A sure sign they don't see Smith as their guy going foward.

    Two pick-6s???? Sheeesh!

Well, at least the D played well. First time since the Browns' game of 2010, I think it was, that the O lost a game. Can't blame the D for this one.

Oh well....this frees up Sundays. I'm done.

Brees was a mega Romo clone tonight for sure. Dude was a basket case of terrible decisions.

The dropped TD just before half was a game changer. Also, I'm not sure they make the PI call on the called back TD every time either.

True. But Brees sucked big time.

The dropped TD pass was also bug because it Brees' streak ended tonight. I haven't seen our offense that unprepared since Aaron Brooks was QB. They say that Carmichael is a candidate for the Boston College job, so I wonder if he was focused on other things this week.

    Re: Saints...

The Dirty Birds will be one and done in the playoffs.

Brees is paying the price for upsetting the football gawds.

On the bright side, Wow! where'd this defense come from? The past 5 days the Saints have played, arguably, the best two teams in the NFC and the D has looked great! Coach Spag said he needed time to revamp the D, as he has completely changed the reads, etc.. This bodes well for next season. Anytime my team plays good D, I am pleased.

Now that the Saints are really out of the hunt, they should relax and just play spoiler. They can put a major hurt on some would-be playoff team's dreams the next few weeks.
