They are defining subsidy this way:
Subsidy: The sum of students fees, direct and indirect institutional support and state money. The NCAA and others consider such funds "allocated" or everything not generated by the department's athletics functions.
Nevermind, I guess using money from tuition fees, etc (not generated by the athletic dept)... is considered a subsidy.
I was trying to get the Tech and ULL numbers to make sense with all this information to see why Tech's budget is bigger and I'm stumped again.
Here's all the information for both:
ULL:
Total university operating budget: 146 Million
Direct Institutional Support: 5.8 Million (4% of operating budget)
Indirect Institutional Support: 0
Generated by athletic dept: 7.5 Million
Total: 13.5 Million
Tech:
Total operating budget: 100 Million
Direct Institutional Support: 7.2 Million (7% of operating budget)
Indirect Institutional Support: 2 Million
Generated by athletic dept: 7.9 Million
Total: 17.1 Million
Questions:
1. Why is our Direct Support almost twice as much as theirs (4% to 7.2%)?
2. Why don't they have any Indirect Support?
3. Why don't you just subscribe to the HOF Board?
Jordan Mills on choosing Tech:
“It’s a great experience seeing them play. It was a good atmosphere. The fans stood up the whole game and never sat down. They have a great fan base.”
Why don't y'all get out of the HOF board and go defend Tech?

Fair enough.
Dude, U'L-LAFF sucks and is far beneath us. Why spend any effort even debating something so obvious?

Go to the legislative auditors web site and search out the agreed upon procedures reports for both schools - it's pretty clear where the difference comes from...
Or spend what you would spend on a week of cokes or coffee or bottled water and RC & Dawg06 have it all nice and neat in tabular format -
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
I personally don't care. I just wish someone would explain it to Velton Knight so he would quit writing misleading letters-to- the-editor of Baton Rouge newspapers. If he's right, then I wish Tech would do more to get off the government teet (need to do that anyway though).
* And I was thinking that since y'all were being so private about it, he must be right.
