I don't follow. Why would the NCAA give UCLA a waiver to play in a bowl game? Why would the NCAA care if UCLA plays in a bowl game or not? If UCLA is not the PAC 12 champion, and if the Bruins have a 6-7 record, why would they expect to go to a bowl game?

The NCAA added a rule regarding conference championship games taking an otherwise qualified team out of bowl eligibility...first chance we might see whether it gets applied...Pac 12 would definitely not have enough teams to fill its bowl commitments without UCLA. IMO 6-7 teams should only get to go to a bowl if there aren't enough qualified teams to fill all 70 available bowl spots.

A conference team that is 6-6 and plays in a conference championship game and loses to finish with a record of 6-7 may apply for a waiver to allow that team to be considered for a postseason bowl. Conditions that will be considered in such a waiver include whether or not all other conference teams under consideration have 6-6 records and there are not a sufficient number of eligible teams to meet the conference’s bowl commitments.

I like it aesthetically, but the gold makes it a little hard to tell the teams apart. It's too light. I have the same problem with Georgia Tech. Gold should be a "white uniform" option rather than a "color uniform" option.

I am involuntarily rooting for UTEP in this one. I haven't the faintest idea why. We played UTEP this year and not UCF, which is a reason to root for the former I guess, but at this point our wagon seems to be more hitched to the latter.

WVU beat Pitt by 1 point in the Backyard Brawl. The Fightin' Mark Mays have to beat Syracuse next week to become bowl eligible.
