Wow another bowl game. At some point maybe every team will play a bowl game.

Maybe this is the morphing into the "everyone gets a trophy" world that many youngsters have grown up with? I honestly want no part of that world. I miss the 80s when you could still spike the ball and celebrate like wild men.

I hear you, but I don’t miss the days when we were 9-2 or 9-3 and got no bowl. ...I would favor a rule to put all teams with winning records in a bowl before placing any 6-6 team, no matter what affiliations the bowl has. Take one step further the current rule of placing all 6-6 teams ahead of losing teams. The big boys would scream, of course.

One or two current bowls will fold before then. There will probably be another new bowl in addition to this one.

5-6 P5s are considered more profitable than 9-3 G5s by ESPN. Keep a spot to go for the G5s so the more P5s can send 5 win teams. I think this is the new trend.

I assume one of them will be Bahamas Bowl with lowest total payout of $225k and lowest viewership. Also, they lost their corporate sponsorship in Popeyes. They have a weird title sponsor, a non-tourist municipality of Elk Grove Village, IL. They are using the slogan "Makers Wanted" to attract folks to their city. It's now the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl.

One of the main purposes of the ever expanding number of bowls is so ESPN can segregate P5's and the G5's. Fewer and fewer games end up being a P5 vs a G5. There is purpose in that.

Fully expect the Bahamas Bowl to be folded by 2020. It might not survive to 2019.

    It's capitalism at work.

The Bowls exist to provide content for ESPN (which consumers want).

"Too many" bowls games isn't a problem. It just isn't. If you don't like to watch 6-6 football teams play, then just skip that bowl. See what's happening on the lifetime channel. Or wrap Christmas presents. Or read a book or something.

The "quality" of teams playing in the New Orleans Bowl will have no effect on the "quality" of teams playing in the Sugar Bowl.

Also, I think we're down one bowl and up a couple of teams from last year so there is a good chance some 6-6 teams don't bowl this year (which should also mean that no 5-7 teams bowl).

To me, bowl season is a lot like March Madness. Lots of teams you don't watch too much during the year, and then there are matchups between conferences which may never happen in the regular season. If a game gets out of hand....one team jumps out 31-7...then I do even more channel surfing, tuning back in time to time. If I tune back in and now it's 31-21 still in the 3rd qtr, I will watch for awhile, maybe till the end. It's all ENTERTAINMENT! If I'm enjoying it, I watch. If not, I switch channels.
