if you dont have an aerator go "old school" and drop some ice in the water. That will release some oxygen into the water for the SHINNERS. I know not what these "minnows" are that you speak of.

Are "shinners" something that you get when you run into a trailer hitch on the back of a truck.

I would try black and chartreuse jig and a blue/white jig. And/or shiners

i'm going again (weather and work permitting) this monday to a different lake with fewer gators and reportedly better crappie fishing. we'll see. maybe at the least i can get a couple of cats so we won't go hungry.
