Tech 67-60 the final media timeout. 3:08 left USM shooting FTs. Lofton playing with the 4 fouls.
Tech pulls away to win 76-62.
Lofton tweaked an ankle in the last two minutes.
Solid second half by the Dogs
Any road win is a good win. Playing a team twice in 3 days is difficult, especially at their place. They had a good game plan and we were cold, especially in the first half. Just hope Lofton's ankle is okay. That is THE most important thing.
Was worried for a bit, but they pulled it together and got the win.
Looks like the contest with UAB next Saturday afternoon could be a tough one. I haven’t watched them play, but they have a good record.
We got the win on the road
We covered on the road
And we came within one pt of hitting the over
We lacked defensive tenacity after the first 3 minutes and allowed way too many offensive rebounds which was the reason we didn’t have a 20 pt win
I thought Willis came up big in the second half knocking down 3s and converting at the rim
AA was awol most of the afternoon
Got a huge home stand starting next Saturday
Looking forward to it

Enjoyed watching the dawgs in Hattiesburg today. You north LA folks have a fun team to watch.
A new article has been posted on www.latechsports.com:
Louisiana Tech made winning plays down the stretch to come away with a 76-62 victory over Southern Miss, sweeping the two-game series on Sunday afternoon inside Reed Green Coliseum.

That was a little tougher than I had hoped, but as any pilot knows, any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. Guess the same is true for road conference games, any win is a good win.
We are gonna get everyones best effort. We are one of top teams in this current league. Can't take anyone lightly.
Exactly! I have no doubt that we are the best in the conference when we play hard the whole game, but we could slip up if we go cold in any game. We will be up for UAB, I believe, but have to play well and more consistently. Some of the lesser teams can certainly have a good night of shooting, as well. I am SO ready to win this conference and the conference tournament this year!!!! Can't overlook anyone!
I sometimes get antsy with our reliance on the 3. But, with Crawford out, what else can we do effectively when Lofton is doubled? I think Green needs to be a little more discretionary in terms of when to take a 3. As for Archibald, I never have any idea whether or not it's a good shot for him because he either drains it or throws up something hideous--from the same spots in similar scenarios. Have to let Willis shoot the open 3, that's his game. Cobe usually has a good feel for what's a good shot for him. Christon doesn't take too many. He misses too many but he doesn't take too many. Bradford is good on the baseline 3's at times if he's open. I always feel like Stewart is probably going to make it, even when he misses it. All that to say, I guess we're going to have to rely on the 3 outside of Lofton. Probably will hit 33% of them, and that's usually enough.
Our transition offense has really evolved throughout the year. Love the long outlet passes and how we push it. Keep the opposing offense from crashing the boards.
Have you considered those Dogs?
I agree with being anxious about our dependence on the 3 ball. However, the formula has worked lately because at least 1 guy is hot each night. Then when that player gets hot, either Lofton gets a handful of buckets or facilitates to other open players. Our opponent doesn’t know who is going to rip the nets either, so it takes several trips down the floor for them to adjust to the guy with the hot hand. Our defense has been solid which has led to transition baskets. Not sure how far this can carry us, but at least it’s interesting.
