Last time they competed for the MWC championship? Never. Doesn't matter how good you are if you can't win the championship.

    So, yes, they have struggled.

Air Force has been decent in football, but they have only won 4 MWC championships (1 MBB, 1 MCC, 1 MIT&F, 1 MOT&F) since the conference was established in 1999. USAFA finishes in the bottom two in almost every MWC sport. They simply can't attract the athletes to compete.

    Semantics.

They consistently finish in the upper-half of the football standings. Their average standing would drop a spot or two (from like 3-4 to 4-8), but they'd be right in the middle just like they are now.

They go bowling every year and are easily in the top tier of the MWC. Plus I said they are Stanford like ie...they have all of the Olympic sports on both male and female sides and are one of America's premier academic institutions like Stanford.

They will be now with the top teams (BYU, Boise St, Utah, and TCU) in the MWC leaving or have left. And they will still not be able to compete in the PAC-12.

Except Stanford has won 103 NCAA championships in Olympic sports while Air Force finishes in the MWC cellar in the majority of the Olympic sports. USAFA would get absolutely murdered in every single sport if they played in the Pac-16. Stanford is a research university while Air Force is a liberal arts school with no graduate programs. Stanford and USAFA really have nothing in common, and USAFA will never sniff an invite from the Left Coast Conference.

I just don't see Texas staying happy in the new Big 12 for very long. They will not like sharing a conference with TCU, West Virginia, Louisville, and South Florida. Once they've had enough, they'll pack their bags and take Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State with them to the Pac-16. The Pac-16 would probably provide just as much or more revenue than the current Big 12 deal.
Dumb post. Won't happen. The center of the PAC XII universe is in California, and Texas would never allow the center of its' universe to be in California.

The 10 Big XII schools have 200 million rea$on$ to stay together. UT might form some kind of OOC scheduling alliance with Notre Dame, but the Horns aren't going anywhere. They are already the richest program in America. They'll spend the next 5 to 10 years tweaking the new Longhorn Network. Once America finally gets comfortable with the LHN, I could see the Horns breaking away to go Indy. The risk will be gone by then.

It's important to remember the fact that in the past 24 months Texas has been days, if not hours, away from moving to the Pac 10/12/16 twice if that conference would have allowed them to keep their third-tier TV rights. The odds are against a move at this point, but I would never say never.

Re: Conference re-alignment has jumped the shark

I believe there would have be a number of situations that would have to come together just so that would make a move to the PAC appealing to Texas. The first would be something that will not be tolerated at UT and that would be a stint of several years of mediocrity. If UT loses its band wagon fans, then they are going to be losing a lot of money in one way or another from the program. People are just not interested in watching LHN if the Horns are losing. If and when this happens, the PAC would have to still be interested, but it would have to be interested in at least one other as a travel partner and that university would have to be willing.

Then, Chuck Norris and Tom Landry would have to perform a russian kick dance while shouting Going to the Pac at half time of the UT homecoming game while the carebears simultaneously gave their carebear stares to all the fans in the stands and to the few people watching LHN who would then be distracted by Optimus Prime who would be repainted in one of the multitude of color combinations of Oregon State as he battled Godzilla and as Optimus Prime body slammed Godzilla, it would cause the San Andreas fault to shift causing California to fall into the ocean making it finally possible for the PAC to be totally centered on UT. Then, UT might go to the PAC.

Yeah, I agree. They are largely MIA in the top 25 team rankings and have a losing overall bowl record.

If they go to 4 super-conferences, the Big XII will not be one of them. This is just posturing by the Big XII.

Big12 will be the one driving the bus. By achieving a 1 vs 1 against SEC. They have basically pushed the BE and ACC out of the Big four.
