Elijah Walker is OUT FOR THE YEAR http://www.thenewsstar.com/story/spo...tch/819129001/
As it stands, redshirt freshman defensive back Reggie Cleveland, redshirt sophomore corner Ephraim Kitchen, redshirt freshman offensive lineman Drew Melancon, junior defensive back Michael Sam, redshirt sophomore Alfred Smith and freshman backup quarterback Elijah Walker are all out for the season.
I wish Skip would spend more time worrying about how to win rather expend so much energy telling the fans why we can't and what a superteam we are about to play.
Skip, your helping feed the negativity as much as anybody.
What a bunch of whiners. Seriously? Complain about what you see on the field, but for goodness' sake, its just stinkin interview answers. If what he's saying is true, what of it? I didnt know we had that many injuries, thats a decent thing to be aware of.
I hope he expends as much energy inside the locker raising expectations, as he does outside of the locker room managing expectations.
I don't pay much attention to what any Head Coach states before a game. It is all coach speak. While I want him and the team to be fired up, I don't want to give the UNT locker room any motivation either. He said what I expected him to state. "UNT is a good team." "We have a lot of injuries." "We will do our best." etc.... It would have been nice to hear him add a "we are working hard to get these guys fired up and our young players ready to go out and play with energy". Other than that, though, what matters is what he states to get them fired up this week, not what is stated in a presser.
Oh of course.
The problem is the coach speak before the game is now the same as the coach speak after we get whipped by a (usually technically worse) team that's vastly more motivated to win. It's all the same to Holtz, deflect now or later, doesn't matter. At least with this interview they can just replay it and save him the 2 minutes to do a post-game interview.
It wouldn't hurt for our Head Coach to occasionally send our fan base ---via these media interviews-- a message that LA Tech will have a QUALITY product on the field this Saturday, and that Tech fans don't want to miss this.
Instead, Holtz seems to be saying, "we're all banged up......we have 18 people out due to injuries and we really don't have much of a chance against a quality UNT team. So go ahead and book your tee time on Saturday afternoon, and enjoy your golf game. There's nothing to see here."
