More in your face stuff and a line in the sand that I expected we'd see in college sports.
I can imagine the Ivy League is know hysterically scrambling to find a way to reverse their decision of cancelling football this fall, so all their privileged indoctrinated brats can participate in this display of wokeness.
Actually, I believe it is all Ivy League sports..
Well, depending on exactly what is worn, I may be done with CFB too. Last week I tuned into a live MLS match. No fans in the stands...just a spattering of spectators, probably stadium personnel or maybe family members of the players. I was enjoying watching live sports again, and then...the camera zoomed in on the sideline of one of the teams. All reserve players on the bench, the coaches and support staff were wearing BLM t-shirts. The uniforms had no particular patch or marking, but the warm-up duds were BLM crapola. I changed the channel.
will be interesting to see how this plays out at TECH. I can’t imagine it would be helpful for the already declining season ticket sales.
How ridiculous can things get? Can "Police Lives Matter" be emblazoned on a jersey? NCAA should not advertise political slogans, stances, etc., IMO. Not the proper venue. Their is no escape from this nonsense. It is offensive and should be prevented because I am offended.
When professional players start taking a knee during the National Anthem in ANY sport, that station will be IMMEDIATELY turned off. I have been a Bulldawg season ticket holder for over 20 years. However, if I don't like the social justice messages I see on Tech uniforms......I will walk out of the stadium!!! Enough is ENOUGH!!!!
I suspect you are not alone and I am not here to tell you that you are wrong.
Frankly, I don’t know what I would do and I am not prepared to say absolutely not. However, I suspect there are a significant number of people who will succumb to overload and selectively shed their prior fandom and save some money and/or time in each of the sports. Saving money will get easier and easier.
Where do the teams get new fans? Given the demographics of TECH fans, it seems like it would be a potential death nell to join in on this movement.
I don’t think a significant number of people care at all. The general public is certainly more receptive to these peaceful “statements” than they were in 2017.
I have been going to Tech games since the 70's and have been a season ticket holder for many years but will not go if they are supporting black lives matter.
