Firing Baker would be nice. Do we ever play freaking defense

Defense is not the problem. If the offense would have scored TD's on the FG drives, UNT's score still would be the same, and we would have scored 12 more points (16 if you count in the missed FG), thus making the final 35-24 or 42-24 Tech. The QB is the primary problem. The OL is not doing it's part, but when a QB sits back and reviews the field for a LONG time, then tries to run, get sacked or throws a stupid pass..........there's your problem.
Baker is just doing what the head coach tells him to do. If he doesn't he will be "moving on to pursue other opportunities".
This is not the only sport at Tech where the HC is a micromanager to the overall detriment of the program.
We went into our vaunted prevent defense with 39 seconds left in the half. Had there been just a little more time, they would have scored a TD to end the 1st half.
Didn't want to come on the board today! But, I like the title of this thread! Pretty sure I herd the quote before recently, "What you got to LOSE"
BS. It matters. I watched J'Mar very, very closely yesterday. He's gotten much worse since Week 1 instead of better. J'Mar is far too slow handing the ball off. He looks directly at the ball carrier after making a handoff to a RB (instead of carrying out a fake, or faking a pass), and he still holds the football FAR TOO LONG when attempting a pass. Several times yesterday he had receivers wide open, but he waited another 3-5 seconds before finally throwing the pass to them. At that point, it's too late. The opposing DB had recovered, or the WR had simply run out of pattern. It's pathetic. It pains me to say it, but J'Mar is a terrible QB. This team will go no where with him at the helm.
I think it's mental with J'Mar. Early this season J'Mar was tagged as a "turnover machine" by many because he was careless with the football and repeatedly turned the ball over. Now he has stopped the turnovers, but he appears to be overcompensating. That's why he's holding the ball too long. Instead of throwing on pattern, he's waiting (too long) until a receiver is wide open before even thinking about throwing the ball. Look at his stats. J'Mar had a lot of turnovers early in the season, but also a lot of big plays. Now he's completely stopped the turnovers, but he's also making no big plays. He's such a head case...
Let's fire Holtz today and turn it over to the guy that ran the most exciting offense in Tech history. I bet he remembers a lot of the plays he ran. We know that Holtz is not going to let somebody else call the plays, so, our team will be better off without him, even if we're short one assistant coach. The time has come to promote Tim Rattay to HC. We will lose more money by keeping Holtz as the head coach than we will by paying him off. Fans are not going to come see the crap that we saw on the field yesterday. Unless you're a huge Jonathon Barnes fan, you're not going to like our games. And, he's been known to miss a few field goals and even extra points.
