I like it. DG and company continues to build our brand throughout the area and look for ways to grow our university.

So basically since Tech can't offer remedial classes anymore, BPCC is doing it for us on our campus... Interesting.

I hope these students actually count as transfers and not first-time freshmen for our enrollment statistics.

We need a BB&B standards manual on acceptable abbreviations.

Not sure how the remedial class students will be considered as far as enrollment is concerned, but the LG Era is starting to take shape. Dr. G talked about this move before he was installed as President. LG is headed for the "increased enrollment" goal in other areas also.

BPCC's offering remedial courses to BPCC students--on Tech's campus. The students will not count as transfers or first-time freshmen because they still will be BPCC students unless and until they are admitted to Tech. The courses are taught by Tech faculty who will be paid by BPCC.

Your first sentence is pretty much what I said worded differently, but you didn't answer my question. The whole point of this "Bridge to Bulldogs" initiative is for these students to enroll at Tech for Fall quarter when they complete the five-week summer program. If they successfully complete the summer program, it says they will automatically be admitted to Tech. So when they matriculate in the Fall, my guess is that they will technically count as transfers and not first-time freshmen (not sure though). If so, that's a clever way to boost enrollment without these students dragging down our admissions statistics. My only concern would be the retention of these students past their freshmen years.

I was speaking of their enrollment status in the summer. For fall, if admitted, it would seem they would be transfers. They already attend BPCC; these courses will only add to their BPCC transcript (some are remedial; others are Freshman level). I agree--it is quite clever and I bet Delta CC, who teaches some courses in Ruston, is freaking out with BPCC offering courses in "their backyard."

I'm not too concerned about retention--these students are VERY close to meeting Tech's admission standards as it is. Intellectual ability is but one of the factors that contributes to the variance in outcomes.
