Games of Interest:
Moo State at LSpoo (two of our opponents)
more to come
If not UNT... It would be up to USM and Middle Tenn, they might catch them after A&M.
My picks:
FAU over Marshall
MTSU over Charlotte
USM over UTSA
ODU over WKU - ODU pulls out a close one
UNT over UAB - I think this one isn't close. UNT goes in on a mission.
FIU over Rice
And, of course, Tech over UTEP
I hope you're right.
Marshall may win. FAU is not that stout defensively and their quarterbacks aren't that good. They have a running game only. Two new coordinators are not working out.
I think they’ve done a good job recovering. The issue is they SHOULD be doing so. I don’t understand those that fawn over them coming back strong as if it is a miracle. They have been practicing. They have multiple older players and waivers. And they have been back to playing for a year. They were given a big boost.
Yep. UAB will lose 37 seniors after this season. And almost all are 6 year guys (including former JUCO's, red shirts, etc...). At least 30 UAB players are over 23 years old, and 13 are over 24 yrs old. It is likely one of the most "mature" classes in NCAA history, due to the special exemptions, waivers and additional scholarships UAB received for reinstating football.
This is what Skip Holtz was referring to when he said after our UAB loss, "those were grown men our guys were battling out there". I can't imagine that any of the other CUSA coaches are very happy about this UAB issue either. It seems to have given UAB an advantage.
By comparison, LA Tech will lose 21 seniors after this season, and only one LA Tech player is over 24 yrs old: our Australian punter, DaVan Dyer.
This is going to hurt UAB next year. It's all about THIS year for them. This is the year their coach has been banking on winning the conference. He's literally spent the last 4 years working up to this one single season. It's all about NOW for UAB.
And UAB probably will win CUSA this year. They're the best I've seen in the league this year. Now, granted, I've only see FAU, MTSU, and Marshall on TV but based on what I've seen, the west is better than the east, albeit not that much.
Okay, there are reasons, as HD outlines, why UAB is this good. Okay. But, fact is, whatever the reasons, THEY ARE THIS GOOD! ….in 2018.
Tomorrow is a big game, UNT at UAB. I hope UNT wins, because by doing so, we stay alive in the hunt for the west title. I am rooting for the Mean Green...I would be rooting for the Green regardless of the circumstances, as I don't like UAB, but I am REALLY rooting for UNT now! But... I think UAB will clean their clocks.
Yes I think we’re all Mean Green supporters tomorrow, whether it helps lead us to the championship or not. Id rather UNT go than UAB.
