    Lennon Creer 2011

What kind of stats does everyone think LC can put up this year? I believe some of the BBB crew has a lot of love for LC like I do, but whats the overall consensus? I'm going 1,500 Rushing, 500 Recieving, and 20 total TD's. I think LC is a very special back and after seeing the Hawaii RB Green get selected in the 3rd by GB, I think LC pulls a monster year and gets picked in the 2nd-3rd round if not higher once he runs a 4.46 at the combine.

Seeing the way he progressed last season with no offense to speak of, I'd say this year is a career season.

He should blow up. Of course the extent at which he blows up depends a lot on the effectiveness of our passing game. But even if they focus primarily on him he will still have a very good year.

Which will be rather tough work early on, I think they will focus on him early. Force our new QB to throw.

my guess not based on anything more than what I've seen:

1,400 yds on 200 carries good for 7 ypc and 16 tds and a Doak walker top 10 semifinalist candidate

(last year: 1,181 yds on 212 carries for 5.6 ypc and 10 tds)

Quite possibly higher. At round 3 he's a steal. But the RB class next year could be much bigger since there wasn't such a great showing this year. Come to think of it, Broha and Dudley could also get drafted.

I'm guessing at least 1,500 yards with 700 yards receiving. He's going to be heavily used in the pass, which could limit his rushing touches. If we start using Fitte, Holley, etc. for the screens more, Creer could bust out for 1,900 yards rushing, a lot of which will come late in games against lesser opponents. We didn't have a good power rushing set near the goal line last year, so TD's could be lower than expected if that isn't addressed.

+1 This was one thing that I really noticed in the spring scrimmages and it bothers me. There were many times the offense was held 3 and out inside the 10. The only thing that seemed to work for us down there was when a play busted and Cameron scrambled in.

Maybe some it had to do with the offense trying to work on different things, but when our power rushing sets didn't work so well last year, you would think they would work on that.

I'm going to agree with your stat guess. I think he has the potential to do better but we will need to get our other backs involved too.

As far as draft, keep in mind this season was one of the worst runningback draft classes. LaMichael James and Trent Richardson could both end up being better than Ingram. I like Lennon's shot but next year's draft at runningback will be tough. Not even factoring in juniors that declare early to avoid being in the Dyer/Lattimore draft class the next year.

Our fans complained about the lack of "power rushing sets" all year last year. The complaint was not justified. The offense we run rarely uses or needs this set to score a TD.

Does Creer really have 4.4 speed? he seems like an excellent inside runner...a one cut and north/south type guy. it seems like he has trouble getting around the corner sometimes though which makes me question his speed a bit.

I feel LC falls into the category of Dyer/Lattimore. I think Lennon has the potential to pop open a lot of eyes at the combine. His physical stats will go 6'1 215 if not bigger and if he pops an upper 4.4 and provides depth as a KR like he did at UT, NFL teams will have him high on the board. I think the 4 guys you mention go higher, but LC provides a total package NFL teams love with the roster limitations.

I think the Tx A&M was the only game he struggled with outside. But other than that, he had some great seperation from then on. I really think it was LC confidence in his blocking that made him look slower than what he is. But to answer your question, Yes LC can hit a 4.46-4.50 when he is ON. And this year, he is going to be ON.

Fair enough, but when we are 3 yards out and in the spread and cannot put it in the endzone, what needs to change?

The coaches (and fans) realized too late that the QB we had the best chance to win with was on the bench. IMO that mistake cost us at least two games and a bowl trip.

What needs to change? A QB who can run the system and receivers who are sold out to the system.
