I absolutely agree with this. Scheduling BYU will GUARANTEE a full house. And hopefully we can issue an invitation to President Mitt Romney to come watch his Mormon brothers get their azzzz beat in our house.

This would be perfect for both schools:

Louisiana Tech @ BYU on Oct. 4th, 2014

BYU @ Louisiana Tech on Sept. 19th, 2015

We need a MONEY game in 2014. That's why we really need to replace ULL. We won't get any money from playing at BYU in 2014.

We need BYU at Tech in 2015 like you have it. Remember they were originally supposed to come to Ruston first. Then push back the return game to Provo back to 2018 if they'll let us.

That deal won't get done until after DR retires. He will demand two money games per year minimum.

Right now we have 4 OOC games scheduled for 2014, and NONE are money games.

    2014

    09/13 vs. Houston
    09/20 vs. Northwestern State
    09/27 at UNLV
    10/04 at UL-Lafayette

I think Houston ends after 2012. They probably need out anyway.
    Gotta keep NSU for HC
UNLV is a maybe, but will be on the chopping block if need be
LaLaff is history. We never have to worry about playing them or LaMon in any sport ever again.

Re: Details on BVDV Interview on The Tim Fletcher Show

There are many reasons why Tech should play games in Shreveport. A few of them are:
    - It was an issue with respect to CUSA membership,
    - If the Tech/LSUS merger goes through as I expect it to, 34%+ of Tech student population will be located in Shreveport, and there will be an obligation to play games (note plural) in Shreveport, any other path speaks against merger,
    - The Joe only seats 30,000 and no school of the standing we must beat if we have hopes of greater things, will play in that small a venue that charges a pittance for tickets, that is unless we make up the difference which we cannot afford,
    - Just filling the Joe week-in and week-out will require either the entire population of Ruston in attendance, or significant support from Shreveport fans,
    - Tech will never fill a 50,000 seat stadium without Shreveport and Monroe big time attendance,
    - We will make more money in filled Ibowl than in Ruston, and if we are going to compete with the much bigger CUSA Universities we need an athletic budget of at least $30,000,000, those schools have huge potential,
-Opposition to playing home games 70 miles down the road, to a stadium that one can get to twice as fast as fans can get to stadiums in most metro locations, is small time thinking of the type many posters on this board accuse the Tech Admin of having.

Get a grip and begin using that thing on your shoulders.

But aren't we getting a big bump in conference money from joining CUSA? In a worst case scenario, could this tide us over in 2014 if we can't/don't find a money game?

It is nice to imagine a year without a non-return game.

I am hoping that sometime in the not too distant future all our home games will be "money" games.

Not until we can draw 45 to 50 thousand and charge market price for tickets. That will take considerable effort and time. Time is our enemy as many of our conference mates are in big markets where it will be easier to develop such a draw. That is why we need Shreveport. NOW! That's where the people are, only an hour away. And don't tell me we have tried and failed, that is the excuse that will drive our next failure.

I realize maybe you meant football, basketball, etc. but we cannot play more than one football game in Shreveport per year. Basketball and baseball and whatever else I am fine with playing games in Shreveport.

I don't think we have failed in Shreveport except when we try the Tulsa/SMU type games. Our best game was Miami (~44,000) and they don't travel well so most of the attendees were Tech fans or locals. The Aggie game was about 43,000, but a lot of those were Aggie fans. I believe Ok. St. was only about 33,000 and they had a pretty good turn out (and Les Miles!) and would probably draw more now. By the way the Miami game was on national TV so that might have affected the attendance some.

I can still hope that the our home games will bring in more money.
