    Excerpts from Today's Football Conference

    Updates per Cory Diaz.

As mentioned before- RB Dee Fleming is no longer on the team, Hawaii grad transfer safety Daniel Lewis has enrolled at Tech and so has Notre Dame Fr-RS long snapper Kyle Conrad.

Walk-ons that Holtz retained from spring include RB Jordan Myles (no. 30), CB Tywonne Harris (no. 36), LB Jacob Adams (no. 56), and OL Noah Pitre (no. 59).

Holtz: “Difference between playing and not playing is a thin line for this year’s team". No drop off between 1’s & 2’s

Jersey # changes- Rashid Bonnette from 86 to 1, Adrian Hardy now wears 6, Zach Cousar TE changed from 88 to 16, James Jackson from 42 to 10. P Brady Farlow from 40 to 29.

    New Dawgs' numbers:
    LB @ICWindmon 49, DT DJ Jackson 52, OL Christian Henderson 72, OL @willie_allen77 73, OL @biron_rossell 76, WR @_Begreat4 86, WR @TheMaureeseWren 88, WR @TM7vital 89, and DE Steven Shaw 91.

Tech scrimmage schedule: Saturday, Aug 11; Saturday Aug. 18, Friday, Aug. 24.

103 Tech football players reported today. Everybody that was supposed to be here today has shown up.

Robertson didn't earn jersey #1 after all. LOL! I guess he needs to do better.

He may still get it for defense. I am not familiar with traditions. I know we can have two of the same number as long as they are not on the field at the same time, but there may be some traditional significance to it (number 1) that I don't know of. Who wore it last year? I can't remember anybody but Scott and that was only for the Rice game. Of course Dixon wore it in the bowl game after Henderson got hurt and Dixon's number got torn off.

Maybe he wants to keep the same number he wore as a first team freshman all-American.

Glad somebody asked our coach about it. He must have told the story of him wanting #1 a dozen times last year. He told that story almost as many times as he said "rockstar".

Which miniscule compared to the amount of times this board used “Rockstar” last year. He probably only said it like twice, and you guys carried it the rest of the way.

Yea, some of us probably overused that term last year, but hey, we did a good job of it anyway!

    Twice is hilarious...

Over/Under on how many times he used it from spring of 2017 to the beginnin of the season?

    20

He overuses every one of his phrases.

I remember his calling Barnes a "Rock Star" and, before that, he called Diaz a Rock Star. I don't even remember him calling J'Mar a rock star but I'm not saying he didn't.
    Have you considered those Dogs?

But PawDawg likes to gripe so I let him.

I still chuckle when he got up in arms because Juluke thought Boston Scott was better than Blake Martin. haha

Yeah, PawDawg likes to gripe about head scratching moves by our HC like special teams, playing juco lbs who flunk out, but then still get to use our facilities to train for pro day, and the clock management of a 6th grade coach.

Juluke/Holtz played others ahead of a proven senior back in Blake Martin. Martin had earned his spot and continued to do his job when he got in the games. haha

Not that I disagree with what you're saying but you seem to limit your observations to what is negatively critical. Those "gripes" color the majority of your commentary. Juluke wanted to play Boston ahead of Blake because he thought Boston was better than Blake. I don't feel like going back but you were pushing some other kind of narrative about all that back then. There are some head-scratching moves for sure. Nothing wrong with discussing them. But if that's all you want to discuss, people quit listening.

I thought Blake Martin was very under used. I never understood it.
