    Football Wheeler?

Is he out for the year? I know Brannon Jackson is done for the year also but did he get a medical redshirt?

    Anything?

Wheeler was practicing yesterday and Brannon Jackson will not have to take a medical RS since he never did RS as incoming Fr.

Wheeler played as a true freshman also, I believe. Will he be able to count this year as a redshirt year if he doesn't play anymore?

No he has played in several games so far. We need him to get healthy and get back on the field, it just makes our team that much better.

That would be a waste. As it is right now, wheeler could apply for hard-ship and get this year back. Rushing him back too early (like, say, for LSU) would be a HUGE mistake.

I think what Gooddawg is implying is that this is NOT an option. I have heard that from others also.

i think he's right. wheeler has played in multiple games, including a couple of full games, i think. i don't think there is much chance of the ncaa granting him a medical redshirt.

According to Reality Check on another thread, a player can get a medical redshirt if he soesn't play in over 30% of the games. Wheeler has played in 4 games. 30% x 12=3.6 or round off to 4 games which meets the requirement for him to get a medical redshirt.

i did not know that. correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't it still depend on a committee's approval? if so, we don't need to put any faith in a committee making the right decision -- if he can get back, he needs to come back.

Didn't Michael John Leonard try to get his Senior year back when he broke his leg in the first game of the season and it was denied?

Didn't MJL redshirt his freshmen year? That may have contributed to his not getting a medical redshirt. Wheeler hasn't had a redshirt year, has he? That might be taken into account. Although I think the way it works is if the player is going to be a impact player at a BCS school, then he will get a favorable ruling. For a player at a smaller school to get a favorable ruling, he can't be an impact player.
