The players entering this summer and the fall were recruited by Goff. Unless the player is a late addition juco, they were signed when Goff was the coach.

Big 10 with 7th best conference RPI gets in (5) while CUSA - 6th best gets in only (2)
    Am I missing something?

No conspiracy, we and ODU both played poorly in the end. The bid steal by 82 Iowa gave them the 5th. Had we and ODU played baseball in the end we could have 4.

Until the NCAA makes the selection process transparent, it's a conspiracy in my book.

You know who else played poorly in the end?

    - Clemson was selected as a host even though they lost 11 of their last 12 conference games.

    - Maryland from the Big Ten was selected as an at-large from a worse ranked conference and lost each of their final 4 series. Maryland finished 5-8 in their last 13 with those losses coming against RPIs 141, 141, 176, 176, 130, 130, 82, and 176. Maryland's best win in those last 13 games? vs. 118. That's far worse than Tech's and ODU's finishes. One of the worst teams in C-USA which we know Tech stumbled on the road against at the end, MTSU (116) was still stronger than Maryland's best win in the last month of the season. Tech had a better record vs. Top 50 and a lot more wins vs. 51-100 compared to Maryland.

    - The other common reason given for Tech's exclusion was Tech's place in C-USA. Tech finished in 5th in the 6th rated conference. But Indiana finished 6th in the 7th rated conference and still got an at-large bid.

    - Then there's Michigan. U-M had a really weak SOS and an even weaker non-conference SOS. Tech had 2 more Top 50 wins and 3 more Top 100 wins than Michigan. Tech had zero 200+ losses, but U-M lost to RPI 262 at home. Then U-M went 2-and-BBQ in the B1G Tourney just like Tech, except didn't lost to an RPI 176 team like Michigan did.

The committee can do whatever they want for whatever reason they want, and that's the main reason why we see the Big Ten brands like Michigan, Maryland, and Indiana get in over the likes of ODU and Tech. I honestly believe if Tech or ODU was named 'Ohio State' we would've received an at-large bid.

Hard to argue with that, but in the world of NCAA athletics, Tech will always have to do more than an Ohio St
or Michigan or Clemson. It's not fair but it isn't going to change. We knew going in we needed to win the last series against a bad Middle team. We didn't. We needed to at least compete in the tournament. Didn't do that either. We needed to finish strong but for whatever reason couldn't find the will to get it done.

Yep, knowing the rules going in, then whining about those rules is petty. We had done MUCH more throughout the year than we were required to do in the last three games. We didn't do it in the end and it cost us a bid.

The RPI process in baseball is fair for the most part. Some bubble teams get left out, but playing in an A5 conference helps those team's RPI. That's not news.

Clemson was a top 10 RPI team all year. Really? You think they should have left them out?

Maryland is a prime example of what we have against us, but they ended at 34. If we end at 34 like we should have, we'd be in.

Indiana was in the 20s and had been included in projections for the last two months.

Michigan was in the low 30s just like Maryland

We knew what we had to do, but failed.

Some of y'all might find it interesting but most of the USM fans wanted Burroughs over Berry and a lot would still make the trade right now...

In hindsight - one or two games made the difference over a 55 game slate -

Don't lose to A-State, SFA or MT and where are we? (any two of those 4)

UNCC doesn't make 5 OUTSTANDING fielding plays and we have that breakout inning where are we?

Baseball is literally a game of inches

I do know this - watching those teams up close Wed - Fri and I'm certain we don't have the horses YET to be a constant like Rice and USM...

Where do we sign and how many first round draft choices do we have to give? We'll take that deal!

Maryland also won in their tournament where we did not. They were rightfully included. You are correct, we had no argument - we didn't do what we needed to do to get it.

Well, USM was in good shape in their regional, but lost to Mussussippi State twice yesterday, and the Bulldogs move on to face LSU instead of the Golden Eagles.

Yep, I went to sleep thinking they would almost surely advance. They are really frosted about some late calls they are convinced were bad. I could not help but think of our game with them in the conference tournament. Now they know how we felt.

I watched the end. Down 1, they hit what would have been a 2-out RBI single to tie the game. The question is on the throw to first. It was close, but he was safe. The ump, however, ruled him out, ending the inning and preventing the tying run from scoring.

Their coach immediately made a bee-line to the 1st base ump after spiking his helmet. He was ejected.

    $EC strikes again.
