Karl Malone Court??? Sinking to new lows...
I can't even believe this happened. Karl Malone Court? Karl Malone weightroom maybe. NOT Karl Malone Court. Talk about hanging on to something in hopes of maybe one year maybe maybe maybe being a George Mason that comes about once in a lifetime for one year only.
If the court was done out of respect and love and admiration for the game of basketball, it would have been named, as I said months ago BEFORE they even announced the new court, LEON BARMORE COURT. But why do that? Why have respect for the game and one of the greatest coaches of all time who WAS GREAT AT LOUISIANA TECH? Name dropping is classless and makes outsiders laugh. I hang my head for this one.

Wow, somebody puts out HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars, is a future NBA Hall Of Famer, and shows emense loyalty to his Alma Mater and you blast him and the admin for naming the court after him???

This wasn't done to put down Leon Barmore, I'm more than sure he'll get his due soon enough.

Also, this is about immediate impact and name recognition, just look at the difference:

Fact is that womens college basketball didn't come in vogue until the last 4-5 years, mainly due to Leon, Pat, Geno, and others.

i think you need to understand the money involved in college athletics. do you realize oakes ignored karl and only asked him for money (and terry bradshaw, etc)? karl, not once but twice, went straight to the FOOTBALL strength coach and asked what he wanted. why? because the ad is an idiot. money talks, and BS walks as the old saying goes. if oakes had half a brain (he could double as the scarecrow in the wizard of oz) he would have had KM, barmore, pam kelly, teresa weatherspoon, renee bailey, and others to sign the old hoops court floor and auction it off. there's a money opportunity he didn't do. anyway, the reason its KM court is a) money b) see the other comment.
i recall the dunkin dawg days and it seems they may be back. i can't wait!

Both good points, not to mention Karl's contributions haven't only been to the sports arena. Look at what he's done for different communities as far as helping some law enforcement areas, his work after the hurricanes, etc... I'll venture to say that there's been more reporting (positive) on Karl Malone than Leon Barmore. Karl's not just a basketball player who scored alot of points and won some awards. He is a humanitarian as well. In fact Dawgonemad, maybe you can show us Leon's humanitarian acts and donations to Tech that rival what all Karl has done.

Why should you care? IMO, if someone wants to donate enough money to pave a parking lot then name the damn thing after them. Why gripe about a generous donation? Does Karl owe Leon anything?

One day Leon may get some more props, but this floor belongs to Karl and if Kevin (me) had donated the money for it I can assure you it would not have anyone else's name on it unless I felt I owed a debt of grattitude to someone. If the Lady Techsters want Leon's name on something let them donate the money.

Get off of the administration's and Karl's case for doing something GOOD!

Hello??????? It would have been disgraceful NOT to put the name of the man who paid for it on that court. Karl Malone is a true Tech fan and is giving back, not giving up. I am proud it has Karl's name on it. Good for Karl! He deserves that and more. Much more. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. Shame on you for even bringing this up.
