Tip of the hat to...

.....our very own Champion 110! His never-say-die, positive attitude, not only this year, but for YEARS and YEARS! always kept that shimmering light of hope burning, even in hurricane-force winds.

Winning the WAC is not the end of the journey, of course not! But it was a step that needed to be taken before we can reach other goals.

Coach Spoon and the Techsters deserve the real credit, but in the world of fandom, WELL DONE Champion!

ABSOLUTELY!!!! THAT'S what I'm talking about.

The men of LA Tech seem to consistently underachieve, and routinely grab defeat from the jaws of victory. The women, however, know how to go for the jugular, and turn out the opponents' lights.

CONGRATS LADY TECHSTERS!!!! WAC CHAMPS!!!

You girls are back where you belong!

Re: Tip of the hat to...

Hearing the excitement in Malcom's voice at the end was great.

Champion110 was the first fan that came to mind at the final buzzer.

Congratulations to Gary and all! This AND the Saints? Wow!

Re: Tip of the hat to...

Good coaching, which means good preparation and savvy at the end of the game.....we saw those things in the last 10 seconds of the game. The athletes knew WHAT to do and what NOT to do to win that game. A big "well done" for the athletes. They executed.

Well done, Coach Spoon AND assistant coaches. "A" coach doesn't do it all. She made the right decision in building her staff which has obviously paid off.

One step at a time, and this was a HUGE step for the program. The Columbia blue is is back in the big dance!

Yep! has been a good several months.

For me, I add Rummel's trip to the Dome (yeah, not good once we got there, but we got there!). Standing in the freezing snow that night in Lafayette and watching the players making snow angels on the field, and thinking we finally won a state semifinal game...yep, wow! Long time coming....

Jim Henderson's call of the game-winning FG against the Vikes, hearing that emotion in his voice "pigs have flown! The Saints are going to the Super Bowl!" Long time coming...

Yesterday, as the buzzer sounded, and I suddenly realized the Techsters were actually dancing again (not too long coming....2006...but it seemed like it)...wow!

Been a good few months for me as a sports' fan .

Yep, my computer wallpaper was split with Drew Brees on one side and Spoon on the other. I get to update that picture today of Spoon! What a great few months! Next year, it is our football team's turn!

Yes, Malcolm was on top of his game Saturday afternoon. He was "in the game" and excited and was very professional. I texted him after the game and told him so.

Louisiana Tech is very fortunate to have two top-notch radio play-by-play guys in the Nitzer and Malcolm.

Re: Tip of the hat to...

Speaking of the Saints, brings to mind "fate". In the last game against Fresno, we were up by 2 in regulation when Fresno drove to the bucket for a lay up and what SHOULD have been a charge ended up a blocking foul on Johnson. That gave Fresno the ability to put the 2 points on the board for the OT. How much fate is involved in Fresno being down by two yesterday and going for a lay up to tie it up and missing with no call??????? I had fears of the same outcome, but NOT this time!

The refs were pretty good yesterday. No, really....quit laughing....they were.

There were two calls, both against Tech, that were missed calls, IMO. The charge on Jones, when it wasn't (me and another poster commented on it during the game) then later, an identical play, I mean IDENTICAL, when a Fresno player went in, and they called a block against us. If they had called that a charge, like they did against Jones, then, while both would have been bad calls, at least they would be consistent. Inconsistency is what gets refs in trouble. And the refs do a good job when YOU DON'T NOTICE THEM. That was true for most of the game yesterday.

Totally agree!

Hey, you asked a question yesterday and I can't find it now. Cheryl Ford was not the first 4 year player to not make it to the NCAA's - she did. She was the first 4 year Techster not to make it to a FINAL FOUR! That is an amazing stat and I need to go back and check it, but I think that is correct.

That's what I said about Ford, not reaching the FF. RC posted that "Bumble Bee" Belinda Jones was the first Techster to play 4 years without going to the post season. Of course, that was the first four years of the existence of the program.
