Bulldog Barks & Bytes is a web site set up by fans of Louisiana Tech University for fans of Louisiana Tech University. Bulldog Barks & Bytes is not affiliated in any way with Louisiana Tech University, Louisiana Tech Athletics, Louisiana Tech Alumni Association, or the Louisiana Tech University Foundation. It is a privately owned and operated forum for the promotion and discussion of Louisiana Tech athletics.
Why We Moved
After many years of BB&B being hosted on Delphi, it has now been moved to a private server. This was done for many reasons. First was the desire and commitment to keeping the forum as a free forum for all fans. Second was the desire to provide added features in message posting available to ALL members, not just those who were willing to pay for the service. Third, BB&B had outgrown Delphi. We were consistently the most active sports message board hosted on Delphi. With that came certain operational issues that were an inconvenience for our users, such as chat limitations and large volumes of posts to scroll through. Lastly, we wanted to offer more thorough BB&B than was possible through Delphi. We recognized that there was a void when it came to information availability for Tech athletics. We have designed this site to help fill that void.
What’s Better on This Site
We know it’s all personal preference, but we feel this site is an improvement over the old format. We have tried to incorporate many of the features you were used to before like message notification, visual recognition of messages you’ve posted to,
In the near future, you will be seeing sections of the site for visitor information to Ruston and Shreveport, a photo gallery, contests, downloads, friends of Tech, as well as some other areas currently being evaluated by the staff. On the start page we will be providing current conference standings, real time game scores, links to related articles regardless of the source, and hopefully, some featured editorial articles from some of you.
In terms of the message board, we feel there are many more options available to you, the user, that were not available on our previous format. Message formatting (bold, underline, etc.) is now available to all and some new types of formatting have been added. You can now also quote directly from another person’s reply and have that quote stand out from the rest of the message. Also, you can now add smilies to your posts and submit your post with a message icon. Personal avatars and quotes are available for all and are seen on every post you make so you don’t have to pull up another screen to send an e-mail, instant message, or view personal homepage information. When replying to a message, you no longer see just a single post, but the entire thread so if you want to reply to comments from several people, you can see it all here! The poll features have been upgraded from what we are used to and we have also added a calendar feature so you can see what is happening around Tech, regardless of who is putting the event on or where it is! The chat feature has been improved as well. Use it anytime you want. The best thing is that this is FREE and there will be NO MORE POP-UP ADS!!!
With some of these features do come drawbacks. We have tried to incorporate many of the features you are used to, but we understand that some things are different and some users may not like parts of this site. The good thing about this board is we can change things. If you have a suggestion or would like to see a feature added, please submit it on the Member Help, FAQ, and Suggestions board. We will see what everyone else thinks and will try to address it.
You may see many changes to the site in the coming months. We will try to announce these, and new features, when they are installed. We are also in the stages of planning a major format upgrade in the future. So any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
We thank you for your support and loyalty to Louisiana Tech University and BB&B and we hope you like what has been done here. We have done it for you and Louisiana Tech! Enjoy the forum and feel free to give us your feedback!
