Maybe we aren't worth the travel and TCU was, but that still isn't a "travel issue."
But TCU was the cream of the crop in the MWC (like BSU in the WAC). Let's face it, Tech has been 3-5th most of the time in the WAC. Not a top team, just middle of the pack.
I would love to be in a better position than where we are now, and call me a Debbie Downer, but I don't see it happening for us in the MWC.

Then it's a "not good enough" issue.

You certainly state the "conventional" thinking, however, the fact is El Paso is closer to San Diego (724 miles) than it is to Houston (746 miles). Nobody in Houston or DFW cares about UTEP. In fact, I've lived in the DFW area for 28 years and I can tell you UTEP is a 100% total NON-FACTOR around here. I can't think of a single UTEP alumni that I've ever met.
The point is, UTEP's alleged "close ties" to Dallas and Houston are a total myth.

CUSA hasn't helped their football program either. They just finished their 5th losing season in a row.

When do you guys think the MWC is going to make their decision? A couple days/weeks/months before we know who's going where?

You lose cred when you bring up the airport issue.

MWC meets in early December. CUSA action (if any) depends on MWC action (if any).

Agreed. Never met a UTEP grad and never seen an alumni sticker in Houston in 25 years. In my experience, Houston kids, in order, choose UT, TAMU, T. TECH, Houston, TCU/SMU/Rice, and then schools like SWT, UTSA, SFA, SHS etc. UTEP might as well be UAB...

Your board must be terribly silent. Here you are again trying to involve yourself with Tech.

100% dead on! I have had the same experience.
Re: TCU is headed to the Big East! (New York Daily News reports)
This whole group is going to implode, this shifting will not even be close to being over till 2013 or later. Those who keep even discussing the belt are nuts, we should stay calm and wait it out. The whole BCS thing and current setup runs out in 13 and discussions will start on what is next mid to late next year or early the following the whole structure may be tweeked. I personally believe that AQ conferences will all have to have a Championship game and contain either 12 or 14 teams, also there will probably be another BCS game added in Dallas. This will change the landscape tremendously. Those who keep harping on the belt and begging them for a home are small minded and only want more close games. If we have no other recourse after we have gone indepentant for a few years then and only then should any of us even think or discuss a possiblity on belt anything. I would rather go back to 1AA before that. You can red dot me if you wish but we need to keep focus on MWC, Cusa, or revamped Big 12. Till then get off our arse and finish Q4E, get people in the stands, take every opertunity through editorials, ads, business connections to pressure the media to give us press coverage. Do what ever it takes to give us the best chance to get where we need to be. If we are not sucessful it will be the fans and alumnis fault, stop finding someone else to blame, find something else to do.

This.

Why do I lose cred? It's easier to fly into Dallas than it is to Ruston. When my home is in Louisiana and flew back to Atlanta, it was Dallas to Shreveport to Monroe to Atlanta. It's a connection anywhere you go and Ruston, to my knowledge doesn't have a runway long enough. I may be wrong, but that's what most think. Haven't we had the runway discussion before???
There are no direct flights...am I missing something? That's what other conferences are asking...
