With Hawaii, they only have to go for football. When they visit the islands, get have the option for a 13th game. Adding Tech would offer no such incentives.

The main reason has changed several times. Boise wanted a tougher schedule at first to better position themselves for a BCS game. Then Utah left and BYU left and at least it was a more geographical conference. Then Fresno and Nevada were added because BYU was going to come to the WAC. Then Hawaii was invited which threw the geography thing out the window. Then TCU left and it is now the WAC, except the bottom of the WAC has been replaced by the bottom of the MWC, which is a wash. Tech is only about an hour on the aiplane further East than TCU.

UTEP really likes what Conference USA has done to pull their DFW and Houston-area alumni base back into the fold. I'd be surprised if they agreed to leave SMU, Rice and Houston.
Logically AND Geographically...UTEP is a better fit for MWC right? We are a great fit geographically for C-USA.
I guess the million dollar question is, does the MWC want Houston or UTEP. Does Houston or UTEP want to go? How about both go?

Don't think UTEP moves. They like being affiliated with the Texas schools too much.
Just don't see it happening.
Key thing to remember MWC invites have been on the basis of: What the said school brings in way of FOOTBALL. Nothing else.
MWC wants AQ for Bc$ so if the pattern holds they will invite the top FOOTBALL programs from the WAC or the CUSA
