It was Damn hot that day. TECH's Alum handed out towels that said, "ESPN Labor Day Is Gameday....Louisiana Tech Bulldogs vs. Nevada Wolfpack...Labor Day, Sept 6, 2004." I used that towel to keep my forehead dry. :)

Only two possible outcomes for concessions during the Southern game:

1. They impress the hell out of everyone.

2. They fail in epic fashion.

Labor Day weekend- everyone will be off work and thousands of out-of-state fans can easily travel to the game,
Brand new $20MM end-zone facility and new artificial turf,
A chance to FINALLY TAILGATE at a football game,
Excellent Tech football team that is coming off a bowl game 35-18 thumping of Illinois,
Tech is the only college team playing in N.LA on Sept 5th (Grambling @ California, ULM @Georgia, NSU plays Sept 3rd),
LSU hosts McNeese (hardly worth driving down from N.LA for that laugher.

If the weather is nice there is absolutely no reason why this shouldn't be an overflow crowd.

McNeese a laugher? Ask the Nebraska fans about that one. McNeese has always fielded competitive teams.

Ah, but there is where you are wrong. There are TOO many folks in N. LA that will be giddy at getting tickets to a game all the real fans care nothing about. I've seen it time and time again folks in S'port & Monroe posting all over social media about going to tigger stadium and all the fun they're going to have in BR for a matchup against a FCS team like Towson or Kent State.. They never mention the opponent. Just "GOT MY WATCH LSU PLAY IN TIGER STADIUM." Typical of most, they give the impression they're connected and going to the Bama game when in reality, they're sitting 4 rows from the top of the upper deck in the end zone.

Fixed that for ya. For OOC/FCS games, and even non-marquee SEC matchups (think Vandy, Kentucky, Mizzou), a football game just happens to break out at a tailgate party in BR. Half the crowd is gone at halftime to pick back up on the case of Keystone Light they were working on before kickoff.

I've heard countless stories about the tailgating, but anyone like the people you mention can never tell me much, if anything, about the game itself.

That's right. I thought about mentioning social media after the game has lots of pictures of those folks wearing LSPoo gear while tailgating or walking around outside the stadium.

Yep. That game was the hottest game I can recall attending also. I've opened oven doors to heat that was cooler than The Joe that day.

Has anyone heard any rumblings from Tech if they are doing anything to prepare for this crowd? If they act like it is a normal turnout, it will be a royal cluster.
