There are also many of the Tech Lagniappes on the main floor of the LA Tech library. If you enter the main doors of the library and head straight to the back wall of the library, the Lagniappes will be in the shelves on your left.

Since dawg06 is posting old articles from the Ruston Daily Leader, I have a question. What are the legal boundaries of uploading old newspaper articles online? I know some are okay due to being in the public domain after so many years of publication. What are the copyright restrictions in posting articles from the Ruston Leader on this site?

If I were in charge, instead of establishing a breeder/bloodline, or hunting down a perfectly pedigreed specimen to replace the former every time, I swear I'd find a shelter dawg. Quick look at the Internets: http://www.dfwbulldogrescue.org/ They're out there.
Played properly, it'd be potentially wonderful PR. And it keys well into the original, throwed away bulldog who probably wasn't perfect fawn and white, and didn't have any papers. But it was fiercely loyal, and just happy to be here for a little while.
The nation is watching now. Our mascot may never get this much attention again. This is our opportunity...

If I were in charge, I'd do it in a hot second. We could turn something very sad, into something very positive. I'll post more thoughts on that later.
RIP Tech XX. You done good.
Re: Louisiana Tech -- Bulldogs since 1900
I don't think we would be allowed to adopt a rescue dog, seeing what happened to our last two bulldogs.
Re: Louisiana Tech -- Bulldogs since 1900
And seeing what happened to the first one...
This could be done very right.

Now is the time to get the ball rolling on this, I don't want to seem unsympathetic here, but the quicker we make some noise about this, the better chance we have of getting it done.
1. By finding a suitable rescue we get a dog that is full grown and ready to go.
2. The cost will be minimal
3. We will give a home to some poor Bulldog soul just like 5 Tech students did many years ago.
4. Tech would get a lot of positive press from this and it would be a great "Feel good story" for the media
5. Just feels like the right thing to do
There are a lot of English Bulldogs in rescue right now and I just don't feel like there would be a problem finding one.

Maybe this could work in our favor by forcing the administration to come up with a set of guidelines or standard operating procedures that would keep this from happening again.
I do think it's time for this to become a privilidge and the qualifications to be a handler needs to become much more stringent along a lot more structure to the mascot program, if you could call it that.
Re: Louisiana Tech -- Bulldogs since 1900
I agree. We are a national program now. Time to act like it.

This ought to be common knowledge. Thanks for ask the work! I certainly appreciate it. Maybe someone could do up a pamphlet with the history of the dogs?
