An old, washed-up, loser coach... Not an exciting hire by the mean green IMO...
Yeah let's just say for the 580K NT is paying, our fan base is somewhat underwhelmed. Time will tell but this hire sure does nothing for me.
Maybe he will turn out to be a gem, but for almost $600K, I think you guys could have done better. Any number of young, hot shot assistants out there willing to jump at the chance.
I'd take a young asst over an old retread every time.
I can't frickin believe this. This is a BAD hire for you guys. For your sake, I hope you're prepared for another 4-5 years of suffering.
It's really true what they say about history repeating itself. UNT keeps making the same mistakes over and over, but expecting a different result.

this one is on Neinas and the Pres. I don't think the AD had a choice in the matter which brings up a whole different set of questions. It sure looks like that new student fee made a huge difference in salary. I'm just in shock they (we) paid so much for a guy that has not been mentioned for any other head coaching gigs since he resigned at Iowa St. ISU alums are on our boards saying it's a great hire, but if he is so wonderful why did they run him out of town to begin with? i'm just sick, thank goodness we have a good bball team to take my mind off this for a while.
Indeed, UNT does have a VERY GOOD men's basketball program right now. Keep it up.

Maybe North Texas thinks it is an SEC team. They do quite well with loser Big 12 coaches.

I sometimes think to myself what universities like Indiana expect if they don't seriously upgrade their talent. Doesn't matter who the coach is, you wont win there if you cant prevent players from going to Notre Dame, Ohio St, and Penn St.

And kids would rather sit on the bench at Michigan, Notre Dame and lose (lately) than star at a place like Indiana.
They probably get too caught up in facilities and so forth. I'm sure Indiana's football facilities are no match for the big boys in the conference. Though that wouldn't matter to me one bit if I could start and be seen on highlights making plays against the big boys.
With TX State rumored to be looking at Coach Fran, the UNT people must be in quite a still!
