At least he hasn't punched an assistant. Locksley has darn near as many in-staff fights on his record as wins.

First guy ever to be fired the same year he won the conference's coach of the year (in an AQ conference).

Temple is the only open position out there right now (MD excluded of course). I wonder if they are interested in Friedgen?

Kind of a surprise. Florida fans were ready to tar and feather him this year.

Ironic that the Terps might get Malzahn. This would be a much better deal for Gus than the Vandy gig.

Update: According to this, June Jones interviewed for MD but took himself out of the running afterwards.

More Steve Pedersen crap...their AD is, well, not very good. It all starts and ends at the top.

I just jumped on here to post this but you beat me to it. That was pretty quick, but thought it might happen though. Since the initial reaction to the hiring was not that positive in Pittsburgh, I wonder if they go for a higher profile candidate this time around, say Malzahn if he does not wind up elsewhere first.

    Re: 2010-2011 Coaching Carousel

Haywood was one of the two finalists for the UH job that went to Sumlin. Oddly, Sumlin wasn't a finalist. Anyhow, late in the process, Haywood allegedly said something that immediately removed him from consideration. Nobody knows what, but suddenly he was out. There wasn't any sort of consensus around the other finalist, Jack Pardee, and before we knew it the Sumlin hire was made (there was allegedly a call from Bob Stoops around this time). I had previously thought that Haywood's disqualification was something he said in regards to the kind of offense he wanted to run, but I'm wondering if maybe it was something else that just made our AD uncomfortable.

When Haywood was having such a great year at Miami, and with this year being a disappointment, I was wondering if maybe we made the wrong choice. A few months later and I am enormously grateful. Of course, now they have an opening and Sumlin wouldn't be a terrible fit...

University of Houston '01. Any references to "we" or "us" likely refer to UH. Cheers!
