Yes, that's why i said in the last 15-20 years.

While A&M has not been as successful, Texas has flourished (quite nicely thank you very much), and as a result, has capitalized on their success (Longhorn Network and being able to discuss going "independent" with a straight face). One thing that was pretty obvious to me last summer when the Super Conference PAC-16 was being considered, for all intents and purposes, it was UT calling the shots for the future of the Big XIIish.

I'd like to see A&M make a clean break...and clobber LSU every year.

So if the main problem has been losing to Texas, what is going to happen when they're losing to Florida and Alabama and LSU and Arkansas and Auburn and maybe Texas OOC? How does that help anything?

never underestimate the political connections at Texas, Baylor, Tech, etc..... The Higher Education Committee suddenly has a meeting scheduled for Tue to discuss items pertaining to "collegiate athletics". I'm thinking A&M is about to get b-slapped back to their corner.

Too much to type. If the SEC expands to 14 or 16 teams, who knows exactly whom A&M would even play year-in and year-out. That remains to be seen...BUT

I think we can agree that UT's success in the last decade & 1/2 has been a detriment to TAMU's recruiting, statewide perception about who's top dog in Texas, and lets face it the Big XII without Nebraska and Colorado has lost some of its appeal.

I also don't underestimate TAMU. I think within 5 years (2016), an SEC-Texas A&M isn't losing to all of Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, and Auburn.

I agree. UT has Texas wrapped up for recruiting now. TAMU will enter entirely new states for recruiting and will likely do well - once those Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, etc... recruits see the atmosphere at A&M. Yes, the SEC schools have a great atmosphere, but not near as unique as the A&M experience. They will catch up on recruiting. The only thing I hate is that we may lose some recruits due to them, as well, since they will be entering our market area too.
