It will automatically get better against Houston. We have no parachutes and no flyover. That takes out 2 things we can mess up. Surely we can get prayer and the anthem right.

I love most of your post but you would be wrong on this one. The Bureaucrats that live off of the taxpayer (in Ruston or anywhere else) do not appreciate working on weekends & it's obvious to me that they do not have a clue how to get out of "Bush League" status. Perception is reality & let's face it that we suck at it. Concessions, Band, Dawgzzzilla, overall game coordination, scheduling, book store, advertising, the ATC out running off a large percentage of our current & FUTURE CUSTOMERS...etc.
All of this is BS. And we as alumnii & friends are going to be asked to pay for the incompetence of these bureaucrats. It's past time for this to end. How many members of the Cheerleaders, Regal Blues or the Football Team came to Shreveport, Monroe or Alexandria to help sell tix? How much did we lean on the support of our marketing majors & professors to come up with some good marketing? Where are our billboards? Why do we have a contract with a marketing firm tha cannot get our merchandise more heavily into Ruston, Monroe, Shreveport, El Dorado, Alexandria, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Houston, Dallas & Jackson?
Give me the authority that they have to market & I will double or triple their output within a week or two. It is time for a major change in Ruston. Perception is reality & I am not liking how we present ourselves & if allowed am ready to change that perception. Gameday programming would just be the start.

I think you're a little off topic, but I see where you're going and you're right. For as long as I was a cheerleader, we were always made aware that SGA or outside sources would pay to take us to games and events. We were never helped by the athletic budget, to the best of my knowledge (aside from throwing plastic footballs). My mom and dad are 84 alums and say the mindset around Ruston is the same now as it was back then: small thinking. It all boils down to, "Well we're Louisiana Tech, we can only do so well and look so good", and I hate it, but you gotta eat this elephant one bite at time (if you'll pardon the cliche).
I do want to correct what I said earlier about Dawgzilla. The man working it is doing his absolute best, and I'll stake what little credit I have on this board on it. Has anyone considered how complex it may be to run that thing? I think our gripe is with the difficulty in the coordination of Dawgzilla, the spirit groups, and what's on the field, not the individual parts. We need a game day czar.
Final note, from Tyler, TX to Ruston, I see zero Louisiana Tech billboards on I-20 . . . ZERO. I do however see 2 warchicken billboards with very good looking women in very plain sight. Maybe there is a Tech board, but it's never been visible to me.
Here's the way I look at it that whole situation. There will be times that the timing will not be precise and somewhat off in the routine. Also if you don't like how everything was run that day from the prayer, the color guard marching late, or the B-52 flyover volunteer to help out if you didn't like the way it was run at the game. I mean come on we are all "fans" on this site and as part as being fan we gotta support the program no matter what that is what being a fan is all about. Sure things are not going to be perfect the first game but give it some time it will be better this week against Houston. Keep the faith and continue to BELIEVE IN THE BLUE.
Just remember -- it could always be worse.
