What kind of fundraisers have y'all put on in the past? We'd like to have as much information for tomorrow night's meeting as possible.

BB&B has raised money for baseball & football projects. Plus, BB&B is a corporate sponsor of Louisiana Tech Athletics. In August, the board raised about $20,000 in almost 24 hours for a football project.

I have a question. Where the hell is Jim Robken? Isn't this his responsibility to procure funding for HIS band to travel? At first I was really angry, but now I am wondering. We've discussed this before...If the band doesn't have funding, isn't this on HIM? Maybe you need a petition of another sort.

I'm sure Robken will do everything he can to stress how much it will mean to have every spirit group at that bowl game, but I'm sure none of us want him to do anything too much at the risk of losing his job and none of us want that to happen. We will do the best that we can to inform the AD how important it is for us to go and if it does not happen we will find some other way of going.

Let us know how much you need and who gets the money. Donors usually donated directly to BB&B then give to Louisiana Tech Foundation to distribute the money.

And as for your FB petition or invitation or whatever it is, I have a little recommendation. I shared it with my friends and now I am sorry I did. People asking questions about the object of the petition and being told by band members to STFU is not going to win friends and influence people except in a negative way. Just a word to the wise. I am embarrassed my friends will go look at that page and see remarks like that.

There have been several threads I could have said this. Tech should look at those 100 students as potential lifetime donors. This is a historical moment and the kind of thing that bonds us with our school. If I were Tech I would find the money and send them all. What these kids will remember is that special moment they were there for and witnessed (for me CSU and Maryland in 1990). More so, their spirit make us much more likely to win. As part of the experience and contributing to the success they become lifetime donors. That will be a lot of money. Honestly, I'm disappointed I have to write this. It should be a no brainer to bring the most supportive Tech student group to the bowl game.

I cannot speak for Mr. Robken, but I can almost GUARANTEE you that he has been at the foot of Dr. Reneau's desk begging him for the money. He doesn't just sit by and let his group get trampled over. Never has. Never will.

Don't worry to much about that. I had a good laugh at that one. I just have a different perspective and it's one that this is not so much a reward for the band that they deserve but a responsibility of our university to be represented properly.

I agree the shv times is not the forum to air out our dirty laundry. Even if we raise the money, it's counterproductive and embarrassing.

Just quietly raise the $$$, send the band, then we look good on tv and everyone thinks we are not small time. Easy
