This guy is typically pretty good.

After talking to 2 more Big 12 folks: They're going to wait for Missouri decision. Decide then where to go from 9/10. BYU/LVille/WVU in play

A 10-team league isn't a final destination. More of a place to tap breaks when/if Mizzou decides. TV/Money input becomes important then.

The SEC is supposedly having a lot more problems and issues with the 13 team schedule than they anticipated. If this keeps up they will go to 14 a lot quicker than was anticipated. Likely with Mizzou.

    Big East continues aggressive pursuit:http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/in..._of_addin.html

The Big East is on the verge of completing expansion plans that will see Boise State and San Diego State added for football only and SMU, Central Florida and Houston joining as all-sports members, possibly by the end of this week, according to two leading college officials.

I wish LA Tech would pound the crap out of TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl, and then petition the Big East for membership. I really do. With SMU, Boise & Houston in the BE, I truly believe we could be happy there.

......and talk about being out on an island....San Diego is a long way from everybody! I'm not sure I would do this if I was SDSU. At least LA Tech would be close to SMU & Houston.

They are not that good, but San Diego is a much larger market than Ruston. The move would be horrible for the fans who like to travel, but it would make financial sense for both SDSU and the Big East. The Big East would add a large market and west coast exposure, while San Diego State would profit from the Big East's monster TV deal.

The only way that LaTech can ever catapult themselves into a position to negotiate with an AQ conference is to win 11 or 12 games a year on a regular basis, including a big name every now and then, thus becoming a household name. Boise has succeeded at doing this. I hate to use them as an example because I hate them, but that is the reality of college football. If winning that many games means recruiting thugged out juco players for the next 4 or 5 years, so be it! We can change our approach once we reach the promised land. LOL

If the Big East doesn't get an automatic berth to the BCS, then why would Boise or SDSU go? Or even Houston and SMU for that matter? The Big East is turning into a glorified CUSA.

I will believe BE expansion after it happens, until then it is a lot of hot air and smoke and mirrors...

Basketball schools don't care, and football schools are all trying to get out...

A guy that works for me is the son of a former Rutgers football player and big donor... says that Rutgers and UCONN are days away from accepting ACC invites. If true, Big East is dead.

This is just a guess, but it could be because of the current TV deal in place with the Big East. It is much more lucrative than what the MWC or CUSA has to offer. Perhaps each of the above named schools feel that at least they can get some water from the well before it runs dry. Furthermore, if the Big East miraculously stays together, then even better for them. Adding quality markets such as San Diego, Houston, and Dallas, the large following of the military academies, and the newly household name of Boise State may just be the right ingredients to keep the Big east afloat. It has much more to do with money and potential market expansion than it does quality football teams. Trust me, the BCS won't base its decision on the competitiveness of the teams within the conference first and foremost. They will listen to the networks and base their decisions on what will bring in the most revenue. If the networks convince them that these teams will improve tremendously due to their newly found AQ status and large markets, the Big East is not going anywhere. They will simply just force feed us these teams until they become household names.
