Big East authorizes "slow burn pursuit" of new schools

A guy that works for me is the son of a former Rutgers football player and big donor... says that Rutgers and UCONN are days away from accepting ACC invites. If true, Big East is dead.

i doubt it. the NCAA and others have indicated there could be big changes in the BCS soon. this may include severely limiting ND's special exemption. if that happens, ND will join the ACC.

no way does the ACC fill ND's spot in the conference with Rutgers.

yes, this deal has dragged on for so long, it has lost its steam; however, the extreme significance remains.

the little bit of news that has leaked on this subject in the past couple of weeks indicates that Air Force and Navy are even more shaky on jumping to the BE, especially with the rumor of major changes in the BCS system. Good news is that it seems the CUSA trio and Boise are gone regardless.

It's 2963 miles from Hartford Conn. to San Diego. That's 7-8 hours of sitting on a plane. San Diego State has hardly been competitive in the MWC, they'll really suck in the Big East-West.

The move to join the Big East by Boise State and Houston was accelerated this weekend when both schools, who had a combined record of 22-2 were not chosen as at-large teams in the Big East because they did not come from a conference which had automatic qualifying status.

Clearly the writer intended to say "in the BCS" instead of "in the Big East".
