We haven't had A&M at our place since 96. We had K-State and Oklahaoma State in Lafayette over the past 3 years, but not A&M.
I do not want to play in Shreveport at all! However, I do have this errie feeling that Bruce & Dan will have us play aTm there in 2012 to prove to CUSA that Shreveport is part of our market. I would much rather play in Ruston a the Joe becuase no matter how much we play in Shreveport it doesn't feel like home at all.
Lets pack Independence Stadium and make it a "Home Game"!!!!!!!!!
How is playing a (admittedly new) SEC team at a neutral location, making it basically a 0 and 1, supposed to impress CUSA? It would seem to do the opposite.
Being Reported??? The opening post from Texags regarding this:
"Take it for what it is worth but a buddy of mine from La Tech told me that we are in the process of adding them to our 2012 schedule. He said 2012 in Shreveport and then back at Kyle. No link, just word of mouth and he seems to be in the know at La Tech."
You should retitle the thread to "Rumor: Tech vs TAMU", you make it seems that it's set in stone.
How many current and potential CUSA members can claim they can pull in BCS schools for a home game? TAMU may not have been the cream of the crop of the BIG XII lately, but they are still a "name" school.
I know most here seemed to of hated them, but I loved the Miami, OSU, A&M, etc games in Shreveport. Tech wasn't on par with them at that time, but to me, you measure where you are and where you need to go by playing those type of teams.
Still would be nice to have these games in Ruston though.
Don't miss qoute me. I didn't say it would impress CUSA. If they are running to CUSA and telling them Shreveport is in our market and we play games from time to time there, then it would make sense for them to schedule a game from time to time there. This would be more along the lines of Bruce saying see I told you play in Shreveport and if the stadiom packed out then that would give him more to show.
For the record I am still against playing at Shreveport and I think it will not end well for us if we plan aTm there. I would much rather bring them to Ruston if we have to play them next year.
The fastest way to increase our casual fan base is TO WIN, and I've said it once and I'm going to say it again: we have the best chance at winning, regardless of the opponent, when we play at Aillet Stadium. Playing "marquee" opponents in Shreveport has had NO long-term, meaningful impact on Tech. The reason we've never had a sell-out crowd at home is because we keep doing stupid crap like this.
Maybe we should make Q4E a fundraising promotion for upgrades to Indy Stadium, since that's where we play our "big" games. Small time...
