Tech vs TAMU in Shreveport this fall

I agree with that. I give us about a 39.7% chance of beating A&M in Shreveport.

And bottom line is you and I as well as other people just have 2 different trains of thought. I have no doubt that if Tech was playing little sisters of the poor in ruston you would be there. For various reasons I would not. Yes that makes you a better fan than me, ill save everyone else the time.Between my weekend work schedule and having a baby makes it rare event to make it to a game. Yes as much as i hate shreveport I would rather make one of my games a game vs an SEC team that I think we have a shot to beat.

First of all me being wrong is very rare. And the the argument of the 6-6 thing was never discussed on the air just on the board. 1. Coach Dykes did not want to change our schedule.

2. BVDV did not want to change the schedule.

3. Playing the game in Shreveport instead of Ruston eliminates our home field advantage and essentially spots A&M a field goal.

4. We have never sold out Aillet Stadium. ULL and ULM have both sold out their home stadiums, and they've done it recently. It's way past time for us to do that.

5. We will most likely lose to Texas A&M. Any win is better than any loss.

6. The logistics of Independence Stadium are a nightmare.

7. No Dawgzilla at Indy Stadium.

8. The gameday experience sucks in Shreveport compared to Ruston.

9. The I-Bowl is in the ghetto.

10. Playing in Shreveport forced the game to be played on Thursday instead of Saturday in Ruston. This prevents many of our fans from attending.

11. We don't know anything about tv yet. Supposedly our admin has not heard back from the tv guys. Only SEC home games are guaranteed on tv.

12. The majority of the locals will be there in purple and yellow chanting "S-E-C!"

13. Eliminating the Lamar game nets us two 5-game home, 7-game road slates in the future because we have no FCS game to offset 2 money games.

14. Shreveport kills our student section.

15. This decision kills our one shot at a BCS bowl.

16. Shreveport is already part of our market, and our conference fate has already been determined. This game will have no effect on our conference situation.

17. We will not gain any more fans by playing the game in Shreveport than if we would have played the game in Ruston.

18. DR scheduled this as a "money game" when we already had 2 money games on the schedule. I'm adamantly against scheduling multiple money games a year. You cannot build your program like that.

19. There will be NO tailgating on a Thursday afternoon in Shreveport.

20. A&M was willing to come to Ruston.

21. We are 0-10 against TAMU.

I'm sure there are even more reasons why playing A&M in Shreveport is not a good move.

Several on this list have nothing to do with playing S'port (1, 2, 5, 13, 15, 18, 21).

Many others basically relate to game day experience or personal comfort. I think you're wrong about most of the S'port/Bossier locals. I do believe we are in position to snatch up more bandwagon fans in this region and playing it in S'port helps (b/c of local media). What was our record against Ole Miss before this past season? I think there will be plenty of tailgating. I actually like the Thursday game better than a Saturday game for exposure reasons. #11 does nothing for your argument. The fact that ULL and ULM sold out their stadiums is new to me--I don't keep up with them. Judging from the Indy Bowl a few years back, I like our chances of selling this game out....

So what if they don't directly relate to playing it Shreveport? Those are the reasons I think this is a bad deal.

I think the Shreveport media coverage would be the pretty much the same regardless of whether we play the game in Shreveport or Ruston.

We were favored playing at Ole Miss this past year. They were terrible. We will not be favored to beat A&M in Shreveport.

Now you're just being a ASS-HAT. You are on the defensive after you made an OBVIOUS mistake earlier. Nearly everybody on this board knew you were talking out of your ass when you said having 2 FCS teams on our schedule would hurt our chances at a BCS bowl bid because we would only be viewed as 11-0 vs 12-0.

I thought you were attempting to give me reasons why you didn't want to play the game in S'port. You're right that selling out Indy is not the same as selling out Aillet--it's a difference of about 18k. My point about our win against Ole Miss is that our previous record against them is irrelevant. We might not be favored to beat A&M, but I still like our chances.

You're also wrong about the S'port media coverage. It will dominate the sports news for a couple of weeks leading up to the game. If the game's not in Shreveport, there would be far less coverage on the local affiliates.

You are correct. He and Nick did say that we would only be 11-0 because the Lamar game did not count and that "they would not even sniff a BCS bowl."

Don't misunderstand me.

My preferences:
1. TAMU in Ruston
2. Lamar in Ruston
3. TAMU in Shreveport

I never said that we were going to bust the BCS by running the table. I said that this would be our one and only chance at ever doing it. I said that it was not likely and even gave y'all my probabilities.

I have provided multiple reasons why I do not like playing A&M in Shreveport. It was not just about killing our chance at a BCS bowl.

The reasons A&M in Shreveport ranks below Lamar in Ruston are:
1. The position Texas A&M was in and the timing of the deal made #1 a real possiblity
2. Our head coach was against scheduling this game (and not because he is afraid of A&M)
3. We had a fallback option of going for an undefeated season and trying to get into the BCS.
