What a month January should be!

January Possibilities:

1. a CUSA invitation

2. SEZ announcements

3. notable recruiting commits

4. information regarding the status of the possible move to the LSU System

That should be enough for the first 4 weeks of the year!

Looking back that would have been awesome for us!! Let's see what happened.

1. We are lucky Benson went to the Sun Belt, so we can move up there. With Malzahn now leading Arkansas State, the emergence of the University of Louisiana and Cristobal staying at Florida International we will have a tough first three or four years in football and forget about basketball. We are light years away there.

2. On track there.

3. A class outside the top 100. Interesting how the coaching staff went with a class lacking in quantity and a class lacking in quality. Who does that?

4. Well if that happens I see two positives. We won't be park of the University of Louisiana anymore. I would rather be the little LSU than the little ULL. And, at least we won't be called LSU at Ruston. I'm thankful we weren't called UL-Ruston!

3. I would assume that this assessment comes from Scout which had one of the least favorable views of Techs class and penalized heavily for having a small class size. Most of the Sun Belt schools were right there in the Scout ranking so this makes me think maybe you are just a hard core Tech hater from outside the sunbelt.
4. Part of the University of Louisiana, little LSU, little ULL. Hmm. I don't think even a ULL person would try to make that argument. UL-Ruston, LSU Ruston, You seem to have some trouble separating the system from the institutions that share a similar name. I am guessing you are from outside the state because your ignorance seems somewhat genuine.

My guess is someone new - a lsu fan just on here because he is from N. Louisiana, but truly knows nothing about Louisiana Tech. The SEZ comment tipped the scale for me. At first, I thought Memphis. Of course, it could be a ulm grad. They know more about lsu than anyone, but the pure hate isn't there. It isn't subtle, but it is too subtle for ulm and the ignorance does seem real (like you stated).

I am a Tech grad , just realistic. What do we have to offer CUSA or MWC? Seriously, think about it. Small, uninterested student body. No television market, not even one station in Ruston. Small, uninterested fan base (biggest bowl game in school history draws 26,000). Our average attendance should be over 30,000 for every game. Pitiful budget. Terrible basketball programs, not even the girls make the NCAAs anymore. Weak facilities. Never very successful in D-I football, 3 bowl games in 16 years isn't really success. Horrible location. Hard to get quality recruits to want to live in Ruston in any sport. Horrible TV numbers anytime any Tech team plays on TV. Weak academic reputation compared to many CUSA schools (Tulane, Rice, Tulsa, SMU, UAB). Second smallest stadium in CUSA, beat Tulsa by 600.

Chief, I am sorry for the dose of reality. Compare these facts to ULL and see how we stand up. It isn't a slam dunk that we are better.

Cannot wait to see your response. Go beyond saying I am not a Tech grad or fan, as I am both! Come on deal in REALITY. Dispute any of the facts I have given you. ANY OF THEM. CUSA has expanded multiple times in the last decade and never was Tech invited; do you think the non BCS conferences are watered down enough now that we get in? Doubtful when there are large market teams still available with equal DI histories. That's really all I am saying. I do think we would do better in the Belt, but hope we get into the CUSA/MWC alliance. Just looking at facts I do

Trivia question for you. How many D-IA games have we won against out of conference teams who finished the season with winning records in the last 8 years? Opps, that would be 0 or one less than ULL this season however you wish to think of it. Dispute any of the facts I have given you. ANY OF THEM. Tech is a notch above any of the other candidates: UNT, FIU, ODU, UNCC, JMU, etc.. Our history shows we are very competitive with all the schools in the Alliance, in all sports.
