Me too

I appreciate that he is just giving us some more clues before he lets us know instead of just coming out and saying it.
Well if you are a Tech grad, I apologize, because you didn't get a very good education. As to your comments on my analysis- Some Memphis and USM fans seem to be very concerned with what we do and are pretty quick to show up here and try to rub our nose in anything remotely negative that comes out about Tech (sometimes it comes out of pretty nasty places as your opinions seem to). Actually Rivals and scout ranked our recruiting class decently when size was not a factor (we couldn't sign a full class this year because it would put us over the NCAA scholarship limit). And yes the LSU system and some UL system schools have the system in the name. While most ignorant people think that LSUS or LSUA or LSUE is a "little LSU" you have to be a whole 'nother level of ignorant to think anyone is a "little ull" just because we are in the same system. I suppose if we started calling ourselves Louisiana LSU and ULL would become "little Louisiana Tech"s
Here is some realism for you: "uninterested student body" - you find exciting new ways to highlight your ignorance about Tech. Tech has excellent student support and has for a while now. Tech is part of the Shreveport MSA which again is decent sized and could potentially claim the Monroe- El Dorado market as well. Our big bowl game drew 26,000 on a weeknight 1500 miles away from campus. It also drew the best TV ratings of any bowl game with a non-AQ participant. Our independence bowl game a few years ago drew over 40k, but that isn't convenient to you point is it. Very few non-AQ schools average more than 30k attendance, and I know how well your team drew this year and ULL should be commended for it. It really is impressive. If they can keep winning I don't see any reason they can't keep it up, but if they start losing I suspect it will be back to whatever it was before. Our athletic budget certainly isn't huge, but it is on par with any of the candidates for the merger at around 18 million. Mens basketball seems to be on the rise, and while the women don't look good this year, didn't they make the tournament last year (serious question). Our facilities are on par with the candidates except those who have recently built new stadiums and the SEZ should keep us moving in the right direction. We have made 6 bowl games in D-1 and qualified quite a few more times than that. We aren't exactly king of D-1 football, but our resume stands up nicely to any of the proposed candidates. Sorry that you don't like Ruston, but our location may be one of our greatest strengths for the CUSA-MWC conference. We haven't had any trouble getting recruits to come to Ruston, sometimes we have trouble getting them to come to a non-AQ, but Ruston is almost never a problem. TV numbers (

) , our TV numbers are excellent compared to other non- AQs. Academic reputation (

), our academic reputation is excellent and is another one of our greatest strengths in the proposed merger. We have a better academic reputation than anyone in the sunbelt and fit in nicely with the schools in CUSA. Our stadium is smaller than most in CUSA, that's true, but we put more fans in our stadium than most of the CUSA schools (USM, Houston, ECU and maybe one or two others out draw us).
ULL has two things going for them, they had excellent attendance this year and Lafayette is a good market. Thats it. We are better academically, athletically and just about any other way you want to slice it.
There is my response to your "REALITY". I dispute all of your "facts". CUSA has certainly passed us over in the past, but there was a reason we were a candidate then and we are a candidate now. I'll trust your numbers on the 8 year timeline although the 8 year choice seems arbitrary. Who did ULL beat OOC that finished with a winning record? I honestly don't know. I know they lost to OK state and Arizona (state?) Nevermind I looked it up the bowl game they won on a miracle last second field goal. It was an awesome game, don't get me wrong and ULL should be really proud of what they accomplished this past year. I don't think the fact that they have beaten 1 OOC team that finished the season with a winning record is going to put them over the top. Your last sentence comes close to making sense. The big market teams are our major threat to get into CUSA. The good news is that we have some other things (many of the things you list as weaknesses) that put us on a level playing field with the large market teams. We will see what happens when they make their choice. I will be interested in your excuses if we get in.
