National Richter Scale Day

Originally the name of a system for rating hot co-eds on a scale from 1 to 10, the Richter scale is the creation of Charles Richter and Beno Gutenberg, both of the California Institute of Technology. With a few modifications and the additions of equipment and actual science, the scale was first used to measure seismic activity in 1935. Now there's one invention that's off the charts!
